Had not been back to this thread in a while but it is nice to see this map get the recognition it deserves, especially from such talented guys as Redko and Mission Bug 
I've flown Hawaii maps in other sims too; F/A-18 by Microprose is one I can remember off the top of my head- which is one of the reasons I like this map so much more then the stock one in IL-2. The atmosphere of flying over geographic formations instead of 'textures' is something that has been advanced by all these guys in some form or another. I consider myself a fan too, and seems like I spend more time sight-seeing over gorgeous maps then dropping bombs or bagging a boggie
