Nice Video! I use Sony Vegas too. I have not played DiRT 2 myself, but one trick I love to do in il-2 to smooth up recordings on a slow pc is record it at half speed, and then speed it back up in sony vegas by 200%. So even if you recorded it at 10 fps, you would get 20 fps through this method. Of course, that only works if you can slow down the replay speed in DiRT 2, I have no clue. If you have any questions about Sony Vegas, just ask me, I use it quite a bit. Adobe After effect may be worth looking at as well, it is horrible for editing, but you can make amazing effects with it.
