I'm betting the screenshots were taken around 12h noon. That is when light conditions are normally harshest and most contrasting, unless the glare of the noonday sun blots out all shades of distinction.
One of the best and easiest ways to get the tint or shade of color you wish is to fly at hours other than at or around noon. If you take to the desert air around 16:30 / 17h, then you will have darker colored landscapes. Even more so if you choose hazy or poor weather conditions. These won't give you overcast skies since you are flying in a desert. But the landscape will look somewhat darker.
That's it. Colour of sand depand of the hour of the day, the light, and the way of the sun rays falls over the sand. And i used gapa gamma tool to make the sand brighter on my screen, but for real it's a little more like your pics Blond.
