I'm noturally inclined to pessimism, however I would just like to say (and mock me all you want....) having viewed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO35o8IRD...r_embedded three things that stick out:
1) Too few flyable aircraft
2) Bf 109E-3 as the German aircraft of choice (which is wrong beyond July) v. apparent Spit Mk II (which is fine, just imbalanced)
3) flame effects and damage transition worse than the vanilla Il2
These are but three issues I have with having had to wait so long for this. Then there is the whole DRM possibility/[probability], actual release dates for anywhere but Europe (hello, Australia!!! - oh and, when I pre-order I'm gunna need to know IF MY RIG CAN RUN IT!!!) to say nothing of the lead time and generalities of updates that have been going on for the last "two weeks".
I'm not saying that this doesn't look good, but the way this whole project has been managed and presented has left a bad taste. I would rather keep supporting Il2:1946 and the modders within that community than rush out and put money in the pockets of a developer that treated its fanbase as play things.
I just really hope CoD or SoW or Who-knows-What doesn't end up being a con job. Too many people have spent too long (and too many pre-orders over the years) and too much money on new rigs in the vein hope of this game ever actually seeing the light of day for it too be anything but fantastic. I just hope the shiney new toy keeps its appeal beyond the accentuated hype of half a dozen years.
