Thanks for the suggestion - I have read the Newbie posting a couple of times. With the Steam version, one has to install from the Steam site and I never saw a choice for changing the destination folder. I have done that many times downloading other things, but the Steam site just stumped me. I got IL2 1946 there for $4.99 around New Year's, so couldn't pass it up. I may just get a disk version from Amazon the next time I do an order there (it was only $10 a while ago). I had read that the Steam version worked well with Win7-64, where the disks involved updates and patches, which they do. From what I have seen so far, IL2 is well worth the small investment - it is just such a classic and will likely be using it for some time.
