Planemad Wrote:First download 4.09M Skins as well, you get some nice default skins.
You could upgrade to 4.101 and get HSFX 5.0 or Stay at 4.09 and get UP 2.01
They both contain what you want.

Thanks Planemad!!
I am at stage 4 of the downloading sequence in the newbie tech help forum. Not sure which download I want/need.
Quote:4)... Mod Pack Installation The next stage is the installation of the mod pack of your choice. Each one of these mod packs has more mods and features than you could explore over a long time.
CAUTION: Different Major Mod Packs generally can not be mixed and matched.
Here is a list of most of the major mod packs and add-ons...
1) HistoMod 4.0
For All Users: Getting your game Running with HistoMod

A popular mod pack with high quality. The HistoMod team features quality over size, but they keep adding content all the time.
You can't go wrong with HistoMod!
2) HSFX 5.0 is the lastest mod pack hosted and organized by the 242nd Squadron and much content is provided by modders.
This mod pack includes previous content plus much new stuff. They are meticulous about details, such as FMs (flight models).

HSFX 4.1 and consecutive add-ons...
(HSFX 4.1 is included in HSFX 5.0 above and 4.1 is replaced by HSFX 5.0 ... Follow link to HSFX 5.0 forum above here)
For All Users: Getting your game Running with HSFX 4.1
viewtopic.php?f=106&t=25515
HSFX 4.1 combined the mods of the Unified Installer 1.1, 1.2, and beta 1.2.5 of All Aircraft Arcade website (no longer exists), HSFX of the 242nd squad, and some content of modders from Special Aircraft Service, UltraPack, and individuals. This includes mod aircraft, sounds, maps, and so forth - really a lot of mod work. There are many maps that come with this mod pack.
HSFX 4.1 is a simplified but large mod pack with many of the popular mods. Add-on after this will add some content, such as the HSFX 4.11
The HSFX comes with the JSGME Mods Enabler which allows the user to see the mods which are available, clearly in view in the switcher interface. The user can switch those mods ON or OFF, as well as add most mods quite easily to the Mods Enabler. Mods added to the JSGME Mods Enabler will also be clearly displayed in the interface.
CAUTION:There are a few mods which need to be installed outside any switcher, so be sure to look at the instructions, READ-ME files, and get support. This might be true for any mod pack.
In my opinion the advantage of this mod pack is that you start with a fairly large collection of popular mods and you can add some other ones that you want to try without having to manage the total number of mods, many of which you might not use. It's a simple, large mod pack.
3) UltraPack 2.0 and consecutive add-ons...

Where can I download Ultra Pack 2.0 + 2.1
viewtopic.php?f=71&t=27529
UltraPack adds their favorite mods and you get the HSFX, too. This is a stunning amount of mods. If size matters, then this might be the one for you. With UltraPack 2.1 and later packs, you get their switcher, which allows you to manage mods with an easy to read interface. If you are serious and dedicated to mods, this could be your best choice.
4) SAS - Special Aircraft Service skin packs and other mods...

IL-2 1946 4.09 SAS Custom Install Modding Guide
viewtopic.php?f=84&t=27664
The big advantage of the SAS system, as far as I see, is that you can totally customize the collection of mods. You can add only the ones that you want to try. For guys who are interested in certain planes, maps, and mods, then this could very well be your best choice.
5) MegaPack - UltraPack leaders threw every mod that they could into this. This is for the IL-2 mod fanatic who wants the biggest mod pack. Look in the UltraPack website download section for this one.
6) FusionPack
A mod pack which can be installed into any stock IL-2 4.07m or higher is here. Keep copies of your previous mods that you want, because any mod pack can overwrite some of the things which you have installed. Read the instructions and info sections...
http://fusionpack.net/
FusionPack just might be the simpliest mod pack of all to get and install for some people. The guys at the FP website chose what they feel are the best mods and made this mod pack super easy to install. For the IL-2 fan who wants an easy mod pack installation with little hassle later, then I feel good about recommending this.
Support for any individual mod that you wish to install into the FusionPack can be requested at their website. They will be able to help you at their website with most mods, but no one can guarantee that a specific mod will be compatible with a certain mod pack unless it has been tested with it.
All of these have been used by many people and I feel that you could enjoy any one of them.
