There would probably have been no suit if UBI had approached them for permission. Instead, they deliberately and carelessly went ahead and used the name without permission. In a case like this, if N-G had not sued, they would have lost all rights to the names. Other users, such as plastic model makers, ask for and pay for permission to use the name, which is N-G's property.
It's very unfortunate it turned out this way, but protecting your property from theft is not %#*@# ! [Expletive removed by Fireskull].
BTW, there's probably no problem with using the name if no one is making money from it, such as mods created and provided free.
