#1

Historical skin of A6M3-32 Built by Mitsubishi on July 3, 1942. Houkoku Number 874 (presentation number) donated by a civilian volunteer group 'Sadahei'. It is unclear who this donor was. Assigned to the the Tainan Kokutai with tail code V-190.

Wartime History
Operated from Buna Airfield. Approximately six foot of the right wing was torn off, apparently from a bad landing that likely grounded it.

Wreckage
Captured largely intact by Allied forces at Buna Airfield on December 27, 1942. Salvaged to the beach during January 1943. Transported by barge to Brisbane, arriving on February 19, 1943.
Moved to Eagle Farm Airfield, the rear fuselage and other components of this aircraft was used to build a flyable A6M3 Hamp.
