Hi,
First, keep all your downloads and if you test them for corrupt files then they are good - no need to re-download in that case. The stock IL-2 that you intend to use for adding mods should be installed outside Program Files. If you have it installed in Program Files, then simply copy that whole main IL-2 folder to another location from which you intend to use it. You may have various installation versions of IL-2 with no conflict as long as the name of the main folder of each is different. The new installation could be renamed "IL-2 HSFX 6.x", for example. The shortest file path possible is ideal, such as near the Users or Windows folders in the User Account folder which you will be using. All patches upto IL-2 4.11.1 must be installed in the correct order. All patches are aimed at the main IL-2 folder or use the "All in One" patch install and aim that at the main IL-2 folder. Once you get the IL-2 with HSFX mod pack working, then you should see the stock IL-2 intro splash screen replaced with the HSFX one. After it is tested and works good, then make a copy of that for safekeeping in case you need it as a replacement or a base for experimentation, in such case you would copy a working version in turn from that to always have at least one untouched functioning backup.
If you have any digital download version of IL-2 1946, then you must install the special modding patch for digital download versions of IL-2 1946, right after the version 4.08 then finish the rest of the patching.
