Personally, I feel that Windows 7 is the best OS in the world. I recommend returning to it. Win 7 will be my OS of choice for quite a while.
The direction that Microsoft is going with Windows 8 is not good for legacy software in my opinion. Win 8 is aimed at touch screens which I hate because of a smudgy screen and I hate screen pens for every screen action as an alternative, so I will stick with my mouse - thank you!
I have read about many problems people are having with software that they like not running right or not at all with Win8. In my opinion it is clear that every time a new operating system is introduced then there are problems with previous existing software at least for a while with some of them.
I feel that Windows 7 will meet my needs for years to come.
