Carrier Catapult mod version b4 (updated 3/14/2009)

Nice info Standds. I see one of the planes has 6 guns so that is 6 50 cals which would be F4U-1A right? How do know these aren't D models in the picture.

~~ISSUE 1:

Triad773: Kicks hard to the left on launch.
Set up in FMB, New Guinea map Essex Class carrier, at 30 KPH with 4 F4U-1D Corsairs with 2x Napalm, 175 gal. external fuel tank. 100% fuel: spins into the ocean. 50% fuel: spins into the ocean. Tried both with flaps full, then flaps take-off. It almost feels like the left tyre hits on the edge of the deck- something that may not be visible, but has something to do with the collision model/zone. Just a guess, but it was maybe something that could be considered

I seem to get off the deck quick enough but I seem to have difficulty recovering from the torque once airborne. I have experimented with 80%, or 100% throttle to no effect.

Cobraj: I had the same results with the left kick off the deck. I believe the heavier the load the more pronounced it was. Fireball is going to address this because it was noticed in our beta testing of b4. It also happens in a P-38 and other twin prop so it is not a torque pull but something that needs further looking into in the MOD. 32 kts IAS

CVL 24 Belleau Wood continues to be nonfunctional. One the CVL
24, with the "standart deck" option. The catapult will only work if you use the "short deck" option.


~~ISSUE 3:

Cobraj: P-38 does a wheelie on launch. 32 kts IAS


~~ISSUE 4:

Cobraj: F-80A Shooting Star [Beta] does not launch fully loaded. Bombs, rockets, tanks 100%. Rockets and tanks seem to be the limit with 38 kts IAS on the deck.

Number 327 clearly has 20mm cannons, it is a F4U-1C and is equipped for HVAR's. The other aircraft are armed with six 50 caliber machine guns and HVAR stubs, these are F4U-1D's. I know that they are not F4U-1A's because:

1. The photograph was taken in April of 1945 and these aircraft were participating in the battle for Okinawa, F4U-1A's had been relegated to rear areas and training duties.

2. F4U-1A's were painted in the three tone paint scheme. The only F4U-1A's to be painted in glossy sea blue were those that were overhauled and used in training units or rear areas.

3. F4U-1A's were not equipped with HVAR's.

4. F4U-1A's had a fuel tank overflow drain tube under each outer wing panel for the rubber fuel tank located in the wing, F4U-1C's and -1D's did not have these tanks and did not have the drain tube.

Yes. For DF servers, there needs to be a small addition to the .mis file.

IDEA COMING ON lol well i thout, most bb (battle ships) from WWII had catapults, that could launch small float planes. like the a6m-n and some subs like the I-400 could launch some planes like the uhhhhhh, for get the plane that launches from it and they can launch ohka suicide planes that had extra fuel for long range.

i post this in reqeusts too now ^_^

That is a great idea to have small float planes like the a6m-n be able to launch from a Battleship but a ship would have to be made to hold such device. This would mean artwork and other graphics would need to be on the ship to allow Cat. I

US boats also had CATs I see. This is the USS New Jersey BB-62 an Iowa class.

listen im not telling u to do it but heres something that would make game even more real! and awesome. i thout thta u could make the cranes on carriers work and pick up small float planes and put them on deack, or take em from the deck and put them in water, just an idea, but GREAT job with the mod ^_^

I found out that that small idea may be quite a big job. I agree with you that it would be the cats meow but first someone would have to build these boats or modify ones that had such Cats. May be post on the Mod Ideas section on this and someone may pick it up like FF maybe.


Anyone have any bugs with this Mod, please list so I can add to the list.

It IS a great addition!! Now, you can create realistic missions with CVEs, especially when combined with the Carrier Takeoff mod. :wink:
