QMBPlus

Okay, I'm frustrated after hours of trying to get this to work and I'm clueless about what I've done wrong. Noob here so be kind please. Smile I first installed the QMB.exe file a while back and things worked as advertised. I then have downloaded QMBPlus_1.1.zip and extracted those into the right places and added the new info in the included files to the right files as instructed. In my IL-2 directory I have a "Files" folder, a "Missions" folder with a "Quick" sub folder added and I have a "MODS" with a QMBV2 folder with its own Missions folder with a Quick folder in that. Got all that? Smile

So I'm trying to add the Sinai map into QMB. I've created a SinaiRedNone00.mis and a Blue one and have put it into each and every place mentioned above to cover my bases. I've added the name "Sinai" into the Config.ini file as instructed and I've also addded an entry into the fileslist.txt file. I go into QMB and I see the Sinai map listed there I select it and choose my planes and click fly and get the data file corrupt message! One weird thing I"ve noticed is that the QMBPlus says that it has done away with the BnZ selection but I still have it, plus I don't have a button to go directly into the FMB from the QMB so this is telling me that something is wrong with the QMBPlus install that I've tried a few times now. For the life of me I can't figure out what it is. Any kind soul out there know what is up with what I've done nad how to fix it? Thanks!

Did you put the load ini line in the all.ini file...
This is what another pilot wrote for me it worked awesome except for the Africa Greece map...

first install QMB Plus V1.1

1) Make sure you've installed the "WRAPPER.DLL" mod first. This will create a folder called "MODS" within your Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 root directory.

2) Now set up the folders you're going to need. First of all, create a new folder called "QMBPlus" within your "MODS" folder.

3) Create a folder called "Quick" within the "Missions" folder of your 1946 root directory. It's possible you already have a file called "Quick" in there. If so, don't try to create a new one.

4) In your root 1946 directory, there is a folder called "Files." Click into it. There you MAY find a folder called "Missions." Click into it. There you MAY find a folder called "Quick." Click into it. If there are any files within this "Quick" folder, just DELETE THEM ALL. If you found no such "Missions" or "Quick" folders within your "Files" folder, don't worry about it.

5) Now, unzip QMB plus zip file on your desktop.

6) You will now have a regular folder called "QMB Plus 1.1" Click into it. Inside it, you will see a particular file called "gui_ru." Let's deal with this one first.

7) Open this "gui_ru" file with NOTEPAD. There you will find lines of text as follows:

# ---QMBPlus 1.1

quick.Scramble Scramble
quick.Strike Strike
quick.VER: QMBPlus
quick.POS: Diff.

You must highlight and copy ALL of this text into another "gui_ru" file which you will find in the following location: 1946 Root Directory>Files>i18n>gui_ru.
Remember that you must open this "gui_ru" file with notepad before you can copy the text in at the bottom of it. Make sure to SAVE these changes in the notepad file before you click out of it.

Now return to your unzipped "QMB Plus 1.1" folder on the desktop. Inside it you will find a "Files" folder. Click into it. There you will find a folder called "Missions," plus eleven other files with complicated names. We will deal with these eleven files first.

9) Without highlighting the "Files" folder, highlight the eleven files with complex names and copy them into the "QMBPlus" folder you created in the following location:
1946 root directory>MODS>QMBPlus. You're done with that step.

10) Now return to your "QMB Plus 1.1" folder. Click into it and find the "Missions" folder. Click into the "Missions" folder and you will find a folder called "Quick." Click into it and you will find a bunch of mission files with names like "Ardennes_WBlueAirbase00" etc....

11) Highlight ALL of those mission folders and copy them into the "Quick" folder which you will find in the following location:
1946 root directory>Missions>Quick.

12) Now return to your 1946 root directory. There you will find the "conf" file. Open the "conf" file with notepad. Scroll down to the bottom of the document and carefully type in the following lines:

[quick]
Custom0=NWEurope
Custom1=MTO
Custom2=Bessarabia

IF YOU WANT TO ADD CHANNEL MAP ETC....
Note, this asumes that you have already installed the map and can use it in FMB

Ok, first you will need these two mission files

http://files.filefront.com/ChannelBlueN ... einfo.html

http://files.filefront.com/ChannelRedNo ... einfo.html

These need to be put in:

XXX\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Files\Missions\Quick

Then you need to edit your config.ini as shown below,

[quick]
Custom0=NWEurope
Custom1=MTO
Custom2=Bessarabia
Custom3=Channel

Then you need to copy these two 2 lines to your filelist.txt (in root directory)

Missions/Quick/ChannelBlueNone00.mis
Missions/Quick/ChannelRedNone00.mis

Thanks for your reply! I'm going to try doing it now but first saw this and wondered if it is right:

Quote:These need to be put in:

XXX\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Files\Missions\Quick

Earlier you wrote to delete all files within this directory/folder shoulud I now only have these two files there or should they go with the rest in the XXX\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Missions\Quick folder? I'm assuming the later and will do that first. Thanks. If I run into any other problems, or not, I'll post back here. Thanks again! This should have been in the readme as there are steps that are omitted that are important that I can see here.

One quick question. You asked:

Quote:Did you put the load ini line in the all.ini file...

And I hadn't because I have this for the Sinai map already there: dlv_Sinai dlv_Sinai/load.ini I'm assuming this is correct as that is the name of the map, not the name of my mission file, which are SinaiBlueNone00.mis and SinaiRedNone00.mis. So all is good this way, right? Thanks!

Okay, just tried it and I'm getting closer now... Smile I now get an error message of "Wrong Target Selected" even though I've selected "None" for my target but the GUI is now as it should be, which is good! Does this mean I did something weird for my mission file? I wasn't sure exactly how I should create one so I just had 4 flights of 4 planes for each side fly towards each other. Again, thanks for your help with this.

Badger, one last question while I"m at it. In your post there is reference to a Channel map. Which one is it? I've seen one by kapteeni and Canonuk has a beta that I know of. Is it one of these? Thanks!

edited to fix name.

Avatar when I get home I'll send you a link to download all of my working map mission files. 98 times out of a 100 it's a bad mission that leads to these errors. I will also include my all.ini file. just replace yours with mine (making backups of your own of course) then you should have plenty of maps working. I don't get home till 8pm EST, so look for it by midnight tonight on this thread. No worries you'll get the hang of it soon enough....

Hi Avatar, see here:

My second post near the bottom.

Remember, the whole thing is case sensitive, one capital out of place and you will get the wrong target message.

PS. When creating missions, i have found its best not to cahange the plane, speed height or anything with the 8 flights, that you have to put in, just where they are landing, as you asign all of that in qmb. Best thing to do is look at other missions that work. Bascically, as long as you have 4 flights on either side, and the syntax is right you are goldern.

Badger, thanks man, I'll give those a shot. I haven't downloaded the Africa Greece map yet but will eventually and give it a try.

fruitbat, thanks! I'll be downloading all of it. So I still need to put some files in the x:\IL-2\Files\Missions\Quick folder and not the x:\IL-2\Missions\Quick despite using the latest wrapper? BTW, nice screen shots!!

my most common errors were when i got the corrupted file message:

- player isnt selected
- flights arent 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4
- red isnt russian army
- blue isnt german army
- file not correctly named

S! vpmedia! Well I'm now still getting the wrong target selected message and I can't figure out why... driving me a little nuts! :? I'm going to try deleting my missions and making new ones to see if that makes any difference.

Badger, I looked at your files/missions and I have very similar ones already! I was bummed that you didn't have any Sinai ones but I liked the few I didn't have, will save me time from having to make those. Weird thing is I've made successful missions for other maps I just can't seem to get ones for the Sinai to work. Does anyone have any success doing this? Thanks.

In my case the problem was that i had been using United Kingdom as the nationality for the Red flights. Once I switched to Russian everything worked OK and I had no more "Wrong target selected" messages.

Okay, I am definitely doing something wrong. I tried again with Sinai and now with the Malta map and I got the same error. This is what I'm doing:

Open FMB and load mrz_Malta (or dlv_Sinai)

I select an object from the plane list. At first I chose a particular plane, these last two times I just took the first one that shows A-20C

I then make way points toward the enemy territory and back to home with the last waypoint a landing.

I then make sure there are 4 planes in the flight and proceed to make 3 more flights with 4 planes in each with the same amount of waypoints ending with a landing.

I then do the same thing for the blue side and use the same plane (initially I would pick a specific blue plane) and make sure all flights are blue with 4 planes in all 4 flights.

I then add 6 AAA around each airfield on each side making sure they are of the right color.

I then save the mission as MaltaBlueNone00.mis and MaltaRedNone00.mis. (or do the same for Sinai)

I make sure that Malta (or Sinai) in in the config.ini like Custom36=Malta.

I then make sure the Filelist.txt has the following lines: Missions/Quick/MaltaBlueNone00.mis
Missions/Quick/MaltaRedNone00.mis
(did the same for Sinai)

Of course I save each file when exiting and have triple checked all have the above info.

I see the selection of Malta and Sinai in QMB and set up my planes making sure my target is the default of None and hit "fly" and then I get the "Wrong Target Selected" message!

What am I doing wrong? The directions I have to do this say to do everything I've listed above and nothing else. Can anyone help me? Thanks!
