Thank you everybody for your fast replays. I did yesterday my three points cap and it immediatly worked perfectly with my life cam Microsoft VX3000 on IL2 1946. The leds are red ones. The only problem: i must play in the dark.
It's not easy to set and If somebody has a good profile , thks a lot.

Hi zaelu, thank you for your clarifications, I also use a micrsoft vx (ver 1000)
-about anti-flickering :I've problem to disable completely anti-flickering the option in the sw is only 50 or 60hz use.
-about Zoom feature in Ft, I know It's not the best we have in sHr mod, (yes it's really a bit snapped and not smooth) but if anyone don't have this feature in hotas control as x52, my settings pointed as may be the one of the possible chanche to have Zoom in IL2
-extra frames: oh you're probably right, I'll give also a try to disable it and see if this will reduce my jitter too, thank for the suggestion Wink

I hope FT creator will improve stability of software as soon as possible because sometimes it crash if you look at your keyboard as x kestrel definition: I tryed to put my frontal LEDS nearer (distance =about 130 mm now ) and moved back the top one a little bit as to solve the "inverted reading" of tracking during this kind of head movement to the bottom (=NAN error ) but still it crash sometimes

@ tangani

Put a small piece of colour film (exposed one.... brownish) in front of your camera lens so it will not see normal light anymore.

@ falco

Yes, mine too tends to flip inverted in one of the side moves (right I think) but it does so only in the program window... in game it just looks down sometimes when I want to look over the shoulder extremely fast and I keep my head down a bit... I corrected much of this problem by adjusting the sensitivity and filtering sliders.

I have my IR LEDs at 7cm one from each other and I have no big problems. Rarely it crashes and if it is doing it in the game I can restart and it works.

Ah... most of the crashes appear when I close FT down  ...but, it doesn't matter at all then Big Grin .

My freetrack is operative. I mount yesterday 3 leds on a cap, following the instructions on free track site. 3 red Leds, a 300 ohms resistance and a Microsoft Lifecam vx-3000. It worked immediatly. The onlu problem is to program it to have the more confortable use possible. If somebody has a good profile for it, please send it. Thank you to everybody for your interest to my question.

tangani,

play with the settings till they fit your setup and needs. More than that... I guarantee you that after a week or two you will discover that you should do some more tweaking cause you will start how the thing actually works.

I can post my profile here but it will not help you at all. Actually the pictures I posted represents my current profile and you could try them.

also there's no need to hack the webcam nor remove any filters!

Best results are gained with the removal of the IR filter + use of IR LED's.

Standard LED's can 'flood' it... causing all sorts of drama. I spent about a month stuffing around with a decent Logitech webcam, and in the end - the only way I could get it working decently, was with the IR filter removed and IR LED's added.

In the end, I got sick of it - reverted the webcam back, and brought a TrackIR.
actually the best way to do it would be to replace the IR filter with a filter that would block light. in any case it took me 10 minutes to make my first freetrack thingie (i've improved the technique over time after making 3 more for friends and upgrading mine  ) and my webcam that also happens to be from logitech has given me zero problems using it with its IR filter in place. maybe you didn't tweak the exposure settings?

I did. I spent a lot of time with it. Simply didnt work well enough for me. Thats more than likely something I wasnt doing quite right, and I believe it was my LED's (Flat headed, but...)

It keeped dropping visual on the IR LEDS, and with the standard, blue LEDs I initially tried, flooded the lens too much.

I'm not dissing Free-Track, infact; I'm quite the advocate for it. I simply couldnt get her working 100% for me.

Thus, I got a TIR - and dont regret it at all.

Just DL the freetrack 2.2 version.

Anyone using it? If so, I'd appreciate reading comments.

Sorry, I don't just load stuff onto my PC without always doing some checking.

It takes too much time to workout virus and malware junk, and lousy software of course.

I used the previous freetrack, but I've had about 9 months of long hours and no time for CFS.

Things are slower now, hope to get back into shooting down my friends. LOL

Thanks Zaelu- my stepdaughter's got a messed up webcam and I thought of salvaging it for such purpose. Your instrux gave me hope for a second rig I have with Modded IL-2 8)

It will give me some vindication from cheating if my victims on the LAN say that the TrackIR3 I have here was an advantage

Cheers
