Well, maybe an in-cockpit 'gore.tga' could somehow be linked to the redout/lightly/seriously/critical/dead effect that we currently have in-game?
A thought... :?:

Erm u do realise if ur killed then u can't see anything.....lol
spinnetti Wrote:gruesome, but I always thought it added realism to the whole thing..Hmm weird. Go to mods folder and search for gore.tga and gore.mat. If there are any of those outside of the blood gore folder then its a conflict. Did you set Highgore=1 in conf.ini? I think it's case sensitive
Hey, this is a bit odd... So originally IL2 had the high gore setting, then somewhere along the way, it was removed for the ones sold in the USA anyway... So with the mod scene, I saw it had come back (by way of the russian exe I presume)... anyway, so I put this mod in, and now the gore is gone again!? I see the pilots slumped, including in the 109e, which I know had it before.... maybe a conflict with another mod?
Thnx.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
-Installation:
===============
Unzip everything into MODS folder. It has to look like this:
\IL-2 Sturmovik\MODS\Blood by PeterD\3do\etc...\
-Activating high gore (blood effect)
====================================
Go to your IL Sturmovik folder, open conf.ini in notepad.
Look for the like Highgore=0.
Change it to Highgore=1.
IF you cannot find it, the look for the [game] tag inside conf.ini. It should look like this
[game]
Arcade=0
mapPadX=0.6507143
mapPadY=0.42571428
etc...
Just add the line manually, like this
[game]
Arcade=0
HighGore=1
mapPadX=0.6507143
mapPadY=0.42571428
etc...
Then save it, and close it.
-How to change blood color:
===========================
Ok if you don't like the blood color and prefer the original just delete all the folders inside 3do\Plane EXCEPT "Textures".
If on the other hand you do like the color and I missed any aircrafts that have the effect (I know I did, heh...) and you want this darker red color, just go to 3do\Plane\ and create a folder with the aircraft name. Then simply copy any gore.mat that is on the existing plane folders into that new folder and you are done. At the end of this readme there's a list with almost(?) all the airplanes that are using that file (I don't know if all of them have the effect enabled though!).
Also, as you add new planes if you were kind enough to share the new folders in the forums with the rest it would be awesome. I simply am too lazy to make all those folders on my own
Last but not least. How to use your very own red color (if you don't like mine, but don't like the stock color either)
1- Open any gore.mat file in notepad,
2- Look for this line:
ColorScale 0.4 0.0 0.0 1.0
3- Change the value 0.4 to something bigger if you want light red (stock value is 0.8), or something smaller if you want it darker (0.2 for example)
4- Do the same for the rest of the plane folders.

Ya, it was all set up. I removed the mod, and still not seeing it, so must be something else... I've had higore=1 forever, but I did check it.. I'll experiment some more - probably unrelated to your mod.
