Fat Boy, it may be because Mercedes was in partnership with Chrysler which delivered parts with not enough quality for Mercedes. Now Mercedes broke this partnership due to this lack of quality. Maybe it will improve Mercedes' reliability.

What? NASCAR boring? Well, might be on television, but imagine yourself there, 43 V8's passing by faster than 160 mph, and when they crash, oh dear... xD

On Formula One all you see is high acceleration, but on NASCAR you see them going faster than in Formula One, THEM's the real rockets

Did you see discontinued CART series? With methanol-powered cars rushing with speeds up to 400 km/h on same ovals as NASCAR. I will never forget these crashes... Everything was flying.

Oooo maan...Don't get me back to those nice crashes....Those series were my fav..
But they were too dangerous and many pilots died there,or were badly injured..So they stopped them.

Btw the cars there were looking pretty close to the ones in F-1,right?
