FF, I must make one important suggestion. Chittagong was a major allied air base and the area surrounding it had several airfields. This area should be included for the major campaigns for the Arakan region. Is it possible for you to inclued this area to the map?
I started work on a central Burma map but I just don't have the time for it.
I am really glad that you are doing this one though. It's really huge!
As for me, I wouldn't make it cover the area so far north. Maybe stop just north of Kunming. I don't think there was much action northwest of Kunming...but I could be wrong?? Anyone want to correct me?
If you need some help with airfields and targeted areas I could lend a hand with that.
Well after spending another day just fiddling around with some textures, and seing if I could copy some of the rail/road lines from my Thai map, and also copying some rivers too....it occured to me that I hadn't tried to open the map in the maptools FMB....and I got the memory warning!!
So....I have a few choices here....I am determined to use the 3:4 scale the same as my Thai map...the distances are big anyway and it doesn't really lose anything...unlike 1:2 scale
IS Kunming really necessary? Because the map is extended East by quite a lot past the Burma/Thai border......just to get kunming in....yes I know what the AVG fans will say.
I feel that if the Eastern border of the map only covered Burma it would fit OK.....
The other option is to divide the map in two...one half the North area and the other the South (taken from the area of the map posted last)

It might be best to divide it north and south. Maybe you could shift the northern map more to the east to cover more of China but still keep Imphal/Kohima in there too.
From what I've read and my understanding of the central/southern Burma region, you could draw a line just north of Chittagong-Mandalay-Shwebo... everything south of that line saw action from the allied bases around Chittagong. Everything north of that line seems to have more action from the bases around Imphal and Myitkyina.
I'm not sure about the AVG operational areas from Kunming but I would think they covered more of the China area from that base. Anyone please correct me and inform me because I'd like to know.
IMO I think a seperate map of China would better suit the AVG and 14th air force.
Just an idea. I have not tried this out.
If your only problem is opening your base map in FMB Map Editor then split the map into north and south for map creation and editing but once both halves of the map are populated with objects they can be combined using Actors Tools and the maps merged without having to go back into FMB Map Editor again.
Should work?
--- and if it doesn't you will still have two decent maps.
Looks to me like Imphal and Kohima are too close to the map edge, but its your call mate.
will compas work properly on that map?
i also think that this scaling thing is a bad idea from begining since your map is mostly bush and hills..

What do you mean its too big for the map editor? Are you saying there really is a map size limit to this game?

Ah that sucks...after seeing the size you were toying with here, I started to experiment with a map with all of Papua New Guinea and New Britain/New Ireland.
Guess I'll have to call it quits now.
