After reading all this:
1) It is true that EnjoyR, Boelcke and myself should propose only one version of DGen.exe in our stuff. DGen.exe version 4.0.8.6 is actually correct and I intend to use and upload that one in my next uploads. DGen.exe version 4.0.8.7 also works fine, so does version 4.0.8.8 or any other one which I edited recently: I know well because I did it myself and I can assure you that the only thing I did was to swap a couple of slot planes within DGen.exe which actually was not necessary. I realized that after I found the ClassesXXY.dat trick recently: no harm, no need either. In any case your version of DGen.exe is NOT the reason for your trouble, in case you have trouble. You just need to make sure that you have at least DGen.exe version 4.0.8.6.
2) The fix I proposed above is necessary in case you installed EnjoyR patches, which I suppose is the case for most DGen users.
3) It will work fine if you do it properly, i.e. rename all the files listed by Boelcke, with the proper characters (use copy/paste and NotePad). No need to edit files, just rename them.
4) If it still does not work, I really urge you to check that you actually did install properly all the new slot planes' mods required. To ensure that, just try them all as listed by Boelcke, in QMB. If one of them is not listed or does not work as flyable in the QMB, it will of course not work in DGen.
5) As for adding new maps are concerned, I do not know. In theory this is feasible, but we need the help from a programmer who also understands how to set the new maps' towns and airfields' locations.
Hi, thanks for this.
Where do the briefing files go?
And do you need BATTLE over Europe for this?
Briefings files go in the DGen folder.
AFAIK BOE is not required.
okay, so the DGEN .exe havn't been touched it is only about the classes files?
didn't know that, very useful!
thanks!
Using Ostfront and BoE with appropriate EnjoyR patches.
The proposed fix does not solve the crash to main menu. I was under the impression we need Europlanes.dat and Pacificplanes.dat files to be modified for new aircraft to appear? :?
Hi Bee,
Normally not, because Boelcke included *planes.dat files for the RV_*.DB files he uses for this career.
Please try and check again that all the required *Planes.dat files are there, properly installed.
I was wrong on teh DGEN.exe track.
nonetheless my first try was also faulty. now it works fine, with the exe and all the files from Boelckes pack.
Well, after much trying the "classes file" trick I'm capable of making campaigns for a lot of planes: new slot planes, Bf-110, Me-210, KI-21.......only a few problems:
-MS 406 and H-75 not possible for Finnish. DGEN error file told me they are red planes: not a great problem (I prefere them as french planes)
-Not possible to make campaigns for B5N2 nor A5M4: maybe carrier planes works differently? I'll try to test other Pacific planes (B-25j, Avenger, etc)
-Not possible to make a Hs 129 campaign. DGEN error told me is a red plane!!!!!! I think this is a DGEN bug or a bug of the plane code itself. I don't know how to fix it. Are the side (red or blue) hardcoded in the plane or in DGEN? If someone could help me to fix this bug, I'll be very grateful.
By the way, my DGEN is the 4086 version.
pacific seems to work diffrently.
I failed to implement the Me-262 or Me-163 in a pacific mission yet, no matter that all classes are edited.
