Sliding canopies could be added to virtually any aircraft, the problem is that it requires a small edit in the Flight Model, which is verboten. I am trying to see if this can be gotten around, but I'm not optimistic. Sliding canopies for new slot aircraft should be fairly straight forward though.
... there was problem with online play when sliding canopy was implemented in Spit Mk1 and Tempest ...
Other players could see smoke from plane with open canopy but player didn't ( online).
Jolly said it can be fixed but it requires great amount of time and effort so they dropped it and started new projects . I still believe he was right in making that decision ...

Are we talking external-model or internal-cockpit views???
Man, you guys are touchy... I never meant to tell any modder what they should or should not do, all I was saying is that, to me, an open-canopy mod would be more useful on some planes than on others.
I would very much like to see all default planes have openable canopies, just like everyone else, but I think the first attempts should focus on planes that need it the most, such as the Ki-84 or P-40s, for visibility reasons, while in the case of the P-51B or 109s it would only be for eye candy, and thus can maybe wait a little longer.
But I will be happy with whatever is done by the modders, like I've always been.
Cheers
Nico
this mod must be and option for offline players and movie makers.

I am talking about both. For the internal view the canopy mesh has to be reworked to make two complementary parts, which is problematic as _Zo says. But the internal mechanism works, I have seen it.
