Wow!!!! You CAN edit DGEN.exe???? If so, you can add maps and planes, correcting some DGEN bugs (for example, with the torpedo planes, Hs-129, etc) and you can add the Manchuria map, etc.
All DGEN campaign makers are waiting (and willing to help)

Let me clarify. First one is going to be used with Lowengrins DCG. You just run it in auto generation mode (replacing DGEN). I am looking into how DGEN (from IL2) works with dynamic campaign generation. If it's similar to the way that DCG tracks things then it shouldn't be too hard, but I'll need to tear into the code a bit and see how it works and what files it uses.
IMHO, DCG is far superior to DGEN anyway. The best Dynamic Campaign Engine out there is the one used in Falcon 4.0. It's the standard that everyone else tries to emulate but fails misserably at. Hopefully SOW will do better.

Unfortunatly DGEN works different than DCG. You can not add new maps by creating some new files like it is done in DCG. All maps that can be used in DGEN are hard coded in the DGEN.exe file. To add new maps we would have to edit this file. So far no one was able to do that and DGEN.exe remains one of the last files in the game that resisted every modding attempt.

That's good to know.
Maybe we can just write a new Dgen? Need to see if I can get into the Machine Code for that Program with something like one of the old DOS Bit nibblers. If we can figure out how the file structure works, we may be able to re-write the code from scratch or something that at least works. It seems to me though that DCG does everything that DGEN does and then some.

A "new" Dgen would be great, but I am not a programming expert, so I don't know if this is possible. If you know a little bit about programming PLEASE take a look and see if it can be done.
I use both Dgen and DCG and I know many people prefer DCG, because it is more user friendly and has some features that Dgen doesn't have, but in my opinion Dgen creates better missions. It is a matter of personal taste, but I don't like the way DCG sets the waypoints and in particular how it handles the number of planes in a mission, in this respect Dgen is more flexible. Moreover creating Dgen campaigns is more interesting (and tricky), because you have more possibilities for fine adjustments, especially by modifying the ops and planes files.
...i've switched back from using DCG since your channel campaigns came to life and i'm having a blast with them ever since . So thank you very much for your work :-)
I wonder if there is any chance for version compatible with normandy map + brit land in the future for us who have replaced default normandy2 with my "Bob"map ( no objects on brit island and ships waypoints edited ). I've managed to edit your present campaigns that way and they all work flawlessly with switched map files ( it is still normandy2 map only with replaced files from my BoB map ... even altered actors.static file with new object doesn't cause any problems)
thanks again
