Team International Brigade has been busy with Arcgangelsk map. Mr. Acgracier have made the roads and added forests to map_t. Kapteeni has populated Archangelsk and it is almost ready. Hope you guys like it:

INSTALLATION:
There are 3 versions of the Archangelsk map - a summer version and 2 differently textured winter versions.
Detailed Install
1/ unzip the rar file. Place the folder 'ag_Archangelsk' in your maps folder in the following location:
...MODS/mapmods/maps/ag_Archangelsk
2/ The 2 winter maps use stock textures from other UI 1.1 installed maps. Check that you have M-bugs Slovakia winter map and textures installed and you need not occupy yourself with winter textures.
For the summer textures however, copy the textures that are in the folder ...'_Tex/land/summer/agracier'
to the following folder:
...MODS/mapmods/maps/_Tex/land/summer/agracier
If you have other ag maps installed you may already have certain of these textures in the same folder. If prompted you may either overwrite or ignore. It matters not since all textures with the same filenames are identical anyway.
3/ add the following lines to your all.ini
ag_Archangelsk ag_Archangelsk/load.ini
ag_Archangelsk_Summer ag_Archangelsk/load_s.ini
ag_Archangelsk_Winter2 ag_Archangelsk/load_w.ini
__________________________________________________________________________________
Simplified install:
Go to the root of your Il-2 install, typically called :
Ubisoft/Il-s Sturmovik 1946/...
and simply drop the whole unzipped folder 'MODS' there. Your machine will tell you that you already have a folder called 'MODS' and ask if you wish to overwrite it. You may safely answer 'yes' to all following queries, as the unzipped folder 'MODS' contains all the correct directory structures and will place the map and new textures automatically in the correct location.
But, do not forget to add the following lines to your all.ini
ag_Archangelsk ag_Archangelsk/load.ini
ag_Archangelsk_Summer ag_Archangelsk/load_s.ini
ag_Archangelsk_Winter2 ag_Archangelsk/load_w.ini
__________________________________________________________________________________
That should be it for the installation.
Please remember that this is still a beta version. The Archangelsk region still is and was even more so in the 1940's a very sparsely populated area, so there will not be a multitude of objects on the map aside from the cities and few villages. Updates are expected with more additions of objects later on.
On a personal note a great deal of thanks to Kapteeni for his diligent and patient populating of the map, for finding the satellite data and for coming up with this map idea in the first place. Without his work it never would have gotten done. He also had the brillant idea of taking a random load.ini from another map and found it gave a wonderfully colorful summer landscape, which wasn't planned for at first.

I installed both Viipuri and Finland map and both are great. Maybe Viipuri will benefit of a bigger area, but I supose that adds a lot of job to do.l I'm really looking forward to this one. I supose Finnish air action was very limited here. Isn't it?

I really love the planeset of finnish russo war From crappy Fiat G 50 to ME 109 g: and Hurricanes and BW
plus early russian fighters bombers..I think that there is a bigger Viipurimap at werks..

HAH HAH. We mapmakers are sensitive artists.... :evil:
This map fills a big cap. At least for Germans and Russian players. Archangelsk map is good for long distance missions at bad weather. It must been a hell for those urban germans. Just forests, hills, marshes and lakes /hundreds of km
....around.I just read a book about Luftwaffe reconnaise unit. They did have DO 17 and Ju 88
. At 1941 even Henschel Hs 126. Main target wat the railroad from Murmansk to Leningrad, they bombed Archangelsk too. But they didn't have no fighter cover.There were some RAF units too. AT 1 occasion they send 20 Bostons to attack some german warship. They were all shot down
I believe that there were Hurricanes too
