oulala an expert...we have a grob but i dont like her..i like the DG 101 the most =)

:lol: No expert M8. Used to go for "rides" in a high wing. Then for rides in a sleek high performance. Then for aerobatic rides. Finally the guy who ran the sailport said, "You're getting hours in, why not take the course and get your license?" Don't remember what happened but something came up and couldn't do it. 
Anyway, used to take the stick for normal flight, catch and ride thermals but the licensed pilot took the stick, of course, for the aerobatics. :!:
Some of these single seat high performance rides they are making in Europe today are astounding. Capable of very high speeds and high G loads comparable to a jet fiighter! I've experienced between 4 and 5 G during loops. Doesn't sound like much but it impressed mehock: :wink:

Don't feel bad, M8! The first time I tried to catch a thermal the instructor said, "When a wing kicks up, roll in that direction and make a tight, nose up turn and circle." So, that's what I did. Worked great! Caught a good one and was going up like a rocket! Then the instructor said, "Look up." There was another sailplane above us in the same thermal circling in the opposite direction. The instructor said, "Now, get out of the thermal and get back in circling in the same direction as the craft above us. We don't want any COLLISIONS!" :lol:

I've seen them go up by a tow from a truck! :lol:
If there's good air and you have a high performance plane you don't need much altitude to get going. I also understand that sailplanes with motors have been popular in Europe. :wink:
