[WIP] New Map - Aleutian Islands Map
#31

Hi agracier,

Your map looks beautiful; unfortunately I can not save missions in FMB. I belive this is a problem caused by objects needed by the map not being adequately defined in my "static. ini" file. I wonder if you could email me your "static. ini" file so i can check the differences with mine.

Regards,

JC

I am thinking that there is some commonality in these. I did not see that this map requires 1.1 UI or anything, but I haven't had any issues (yet).

Did you try reinstalling the UI 1.1 by chance? You seem to be missing something though it seems related to more recent maps, and maybe textures or objects included therein UI 1.1

Yes reinstalled 1.1 several times...with patch...redid all.ini to & of course went over STD files to re -list new aircraft...ditto static file.Other new maps work including Grand Canyon & even the new Chaco map in S.America. I think I've installed all the structure ,airfield ,fortification, troop mods etc too...but these just refuse to Save this or Korea maps...
Could it have anything to do with QMT+1.1?

You mean the QMB and not the full mission builder? (FMB)

Obviously there can be not missions for the QMB+ unless you have d/l'd or saved a quick mission.

See viewtopic.php?t=11420&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=korea+quick+mission&start=210

and look at the 5th post down. Copy/paste that into Notepad (from where it says 'Main' to 'House' (with brackets) and save as Other>.mis file in your quick missions folder under Mods/QMB+/Missions (or where ever your missions are saved for quick missions).

I am baffled that something like this could deter you from enjoying this map. But as I have painfully discovered with Window$, uninstall/reinstall can work wonders (fault on M$, not you Tongue )

Just for info - I myself do not have UI 1.1 installed, but still use the older1.0 version. I do of course have a number of mods installed manually that are now probably standard in UI 1.1.

However, when using objects for this map, we (tried at least) to use standard, stock objects only.

As far as i can remember, I avoided using any of the otherwise excellent Fortifications mod objects by lal-rone, because I know this can cause problems for others who do not have the same objects installed.

And there were certainly no Egypt objects used either ... ha ha

Here in any case is my static.ini:

Agracier, I'm thinking - just thinking - that you probably used some of the new pacific objects that came with the 'Slot' or 'Thailand' map. It includes japanese and US barracks, flags, all manner of buildings you'd expect to find in a Pacific scenario (not necessarily tropical...)

Those who have problems saving on the Aleutians map : try installing the aforementionned maps if you haven't already, and see if that fixes anything.

If that doesn't work, search your MODS folder for the 'Destruction mod' and see if there isn't a static.ini file somewhere in there. If such is the case, try disabling it and see if that makes a difference.

That's how I managed to fix most of my saving issues with new maps. Some maps did work as I had the UI's static.ini, but any new objects I tried to add didn't work because the destruction mod's static.ini took precedence. Took me a while to figure this one out.

Cheers

Nico

Yes, I am quite certain that i used some Japanese and US barracks and headquarters objects ... they would be just the thing for such a map ...

just to say thanks for this map - i installed it a few days ago, and it worked perfectly, straight off the bat with no problems. can save missions fine in FMB
which is actually really disturbing me, because most of my default maps don't work anymore, as far as saving missions goes, but new ones like this, work fine..??? go figure....
anyways, great map and thanks again!! Big Grin

I have built a campaign already:

viewtopic.php?t=16595

But I hope some other guys will get busy making more campaigns too, as there are many opportunities - U.S. and Canadian campaings for P-40s, P-39, P-38, B-24, B-17, Catalina...

Great looking map, would like to see this come out of WIP so that it can be a part of future updates. As it is a WIP I'm sure you are finalizing things so I wanted to note that there are a few minor details that I have seen right off; at the land base in Dutch Harbor there is a Hickam Field Gate on the South East side of the field and several Quonset hangers that appear doubled. The Land and the Water at the south edge of the harbor are not at zero so it seems to go uphill as seen by the stairstep effect of the docks there, this is also seen at a few places around the bases in other parts of the map where you can see "under" the mountains. Other than those little details it's pretty "cool". 8)
