For All Users: Getting your game Running with HSFX 4.1

no dice. back to 4.09. when 4.10 comes out how will it differ from HSFX 4.11?

Well, it won't have as many flyable planes, and far fewer maps than HSFX. Of course we'll have to wait for a new version of HSFX that incorporates 4.10.

To make sure your game works with this, make sure your game is running 4.09 cleanly.

Then, go onto the 242-squadron website which I linked to in my first post, and look up the hash-check feature. What this application does is to see if your download(s) are clean Wink Download the hash-checker function and then check your individual HSFX-4.0 and 4.1 components. So you are making sure they are all clean.
Then run the HSFX 4.0, then run 4.1 and then run 4.11 (in-between each, make sure your game is working)

If this doesn't work, try extracting the 4.0 install to a folder, and copy and paste this folder over yout 4.09 game. If this doesn't work, I think you're screwed Wink LOL

I am having a difficult time finding a working link for the Direct to Drive patch for the downloaded version. Any help in locating one is greatly appreciated. I'm very eager to try out HSFX.

Hi, Fangsus

The Direct2Drive is how I got the 4.08m patch. What did you mean by "ligit D2D patch"? If you are talking about one that is clean, in other words-has no corrupt files, then you need to do some things.

You need a reliable InterNet connection to receive the download.

1) Scan the download for malware.

2) Test the download for corruption of files. WinRar is good for this and has a free trial period, though there are some other good programs which test for corrupt files.

3) Open the download to activate the installer.

Thanks for replying Fireskull. I meant legit towards the link itself, I apologize for confusion. I may be confused about exactly what to do, I've read that I need a fix/patch for the downloaded IL-2 1946 version in order to be able to install HSFX successfully. I'm not too clear on what it is, but I have a clean install sitting in my folder, and I have 4.08 and 4.09 patches ready to go. But most of the links for the D2D patch either point to the old AAA or ubi.com, and for some reason it re-directs me to their store, as if the link is old.

Thanks for your help and time, Fireskull.

Hello, Fangsus

Keep a copy of your original IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 as backup. You probably should also at least copy the whole thing with 4.09m patch intalled, too.

The reason why I recommend keeping a copy of both is because the special patch that was kept at AAA for the digital download version is lost. This happened in the move to establish All Aircraft Simulations. We handled thousands of posts and someone must not have set aside the one with the special patch.

Here is the current order of installation while using the links to the downloads in the first post of this topic:

4.08m + 4.09m + HSFX 4.0 + HSFX 4.1 + HSFX 4.11

Once you get all that and have it running well, then make a copy of it as backup. There will probably be more add-on patches in the future. Big Grin

I hope that it helps.

That will happen, especially with how big AAA was. Thanks for your help, I'll try this out and hopefully I'll have good results.

EDIT: I did some looking around on the forums and found out what was wrong. I ran JSGME.exe and turned on HSFX. I loaded IL-2 and HSFX was activated, but it crashed to the desktop at 5%. I'll do some looking around and see what I come up with, but help is much appreciated.

Fangsus,

I e-mailed a friend of mine to help you.

I got a 5% crash when attempting to install HSFX over a UI install. It was worth a try, but destined to fail.

I'd suggest making a fresh install of everything. It may take a day or two, but here you can be assured you will have a clean game running perfectly Wink

It's not clear to me whether you ever found the D2D patch and installed it. You're not going to find it at ubi.com, since it is a mod related patch, and ubi.com is not going to help anyone mod their game.

The 5% CTD is usually because a patch was missed, either the 4.08, or in this case, probably you need the D2D patch. Sometimes there may be a 5% CTD with older sound hardware after installing the 4.09m patch.

SAS has the D2D patch, but you will have to subscribe to see the link:
http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,1531.0.html

Give it a try and see if it works.

Hi, any chance for a tip regarding maps?
In my HSFX4.11 install, I am not able to play missions I created for a number of maps, whenever I save and hit play, no such thing as the usual short interim phase and loadscreen occurs, I just stay in the map section. And cannot load any newly created missions.

For some weird reason I was able to create 2 templates for missions, one in Thailand and one in Hawaii.
IIRC on SAS forum I read a comment about objects missing in my install..tips highly appreciated.

Still happy with HSFX4.11..

Yep, I think it's down to missing objects...is your install clean? Wink

I really hope so.. Cry
Looks like a new install is required..argh!
Anway, clean enough to run in 2 versions, one with HSFX4.11 and one with HSFX4.1 and histomod..but that map thing sucks..
