W.I.P. New Map! MTO

Ok, cleaned up the crud.

Gaga & Fanatic Modder, it is nice to see you guys support your country and her history, but please don't do that again. Also, sending abusive PM's will NOT be tolerated. Those caught doing so will face themselves a 1 week vacation...

CanonUK, brilliant work on the map mate, cannot wait to fly her. As a side note my Grandfather served in Crete, one of the ANZAC's there Smile

Great work Canon, looking foward to fly this map.

RAF_Magpie, which Battalion did your greatfather service with. My greatfather was with 2/3rd Aust Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment at Maleme airfield. He was lucky to get off Crete, thanks to the Kiwis he made it off.

Cujo_1970 : I'm glad others appreciate the authenticity of my airfields. They feel so much better than default generic Oleg airfields Smile

Magpie - many thanks for cleaning it up mate. Smile Want to see Suda Bay? (the evacuation point)

eirinn - want to see a screenshot of Maleme airfield?

Update:

Have added 6 airfields in Egypt from Sollum to Mersah Matruh. Taking a break from the desert a few days to work on Malta. Thought I'd start with Valetta and it's Grand Harbour. Framerates are actually very good on my PC despite the relatively high object count. It's definitely very playable.

Bleedin ell Joe, how many houses, top work mate.

The close up buildings look the biz, but what sort of load times are we talking??, not that that concerns me to much but some lower end users might struggle (or will you do differant levels of detail as on the Malta map?)

Actually load times are really quick, and frame rates are really high. Valletta isn't that big (and was pretty damn small during WW2) so it's not miles and miles of buildings.

This map should be playable on every system but I'm pushing it towards high-end because that's what I've got now Smile

Elitist!

It's looking great, I see you've elevated some of the buildings to get them to work in the harbor. Also, can see a better view of some of the houses you've reskinned for this map. Obviously, a great deal of work is going into this map - thanks for that.

Do you plan to incorporate some of R1's Hangar Mod 2 for your map? Maybe if you ask him real nice, he'll give you an exclusive advance release to work with Idea Smile

Hopefully one day I'll get the courage to tackle a map...

Cujo - well spotted. Yes, I've cloned and raised severl buildings so that I can build an imposing Grand Harbour.

Little update. I've finished Malta - the three main airfields (TaKali, Luqa and HalFar) and a Seaplane base at Kalafrana. Airfields based on aerial recon photos from August 1941, so even though a few of the strips were lengthened a little by 1942, I'm working with the 1941 set-up since I have photgraphic evidence of exactly how it looked in that timeframe. The Island's too small to fit the two emergency landing groundings that were there.

Had myself a rather fun dogfight over the island, shooting down Spits that got too close to the Stukas. Great fun Smile
