Here are a few shots showing the rather slow progress of this project at the moment, I took time out to skin the S-328
but I am now back on track.
Bombsaway, the coastal texture master, continues to inspire me to carry on by constantly providing new textures for
me to try, thanks very much Mark I appreciate it.
This texture is an addaption of his seaweed and kelp bed texture altered to suit my Vietnam map,
still a work in progress at the moment he tells me.
A view from the air.
I've finally got around to bluring the areas that were levelled along the river banks, the height
tool is a fairly brutal animal in this respect and anyone who has this WIP map will probably have
noticed the heavy shadows cast where any thing was flattened, it left deep trenches which were
rather horrible to view.
As you can see here things now look much more natural.
I've added a Develpier bridge in Da Nang and begun to lay down a few roads.
I've had a go at painting the roads in without much success, they ended up in all sorts of strange
places, so I am going to add a limited road network the hard way.
Here is a road heading out of Da nang towards Hue. I will try to put a few through the hills were
possible as long as I can find a route that will require the least amount of adjusting with the height
tool, other than that they will mainly follow the coast and go along side the rivers.
Here you see the textures I've been experimenting with to illustrate Vietnamese agriculture.
And here is how things will look along the rivers and coast. I want to add beaches but the texture
in the sim used for this tends to leave rather jagged edges when applied so I need to find something
suitable with Google.
I've been trying to make a tree map for my hills texture following the instructions in the Kevin P
tutorial but as of yet I am having no success getting one to work. I wanted to cover the hills with
trees so that it looked a little more natural rather than just having the flat texture I have at the
moment, the only other alternative will be to use existing sim textures for this but they are all a
little too light in colour for my liking, and not very Vietnam looking.
Well that's it for now.
Wishing you all the very best, Pete.
