#91

You have the choice , If I dont use the alpha channel , I can t make a scratch , an if I use it , you ll have a beautiful cockpit , but a little bug with the sun .... Sorry , it s the same in the 109 cockpits ...
About the FM , sorry my english is too poor to have a good talking about that here ... But all the game have unhistorical FM , and it s possible to improve that , if it s not allowed to do this here , no problem , I ll do this in another place ...

Freddie,

I have all your cockpits and love them all. I do hope you'll someday release the other 51's here. I would appreciate having them.

Sadly, it always seems that, and I quote the saying, "No good deed goes unpunished." Meaning there will always be nit-picky ungrateful critics and Gestapo types. The best thing is to look at the positive side and that being the huge number of people that "Love your stuff" and openly state their appreciations on these pages.

Thanks again Freddie,

S~

tried that.... it wouldn't help

unfortunately Freddy has used multi-textured mesh files for adding each new part so game loads bunch of blank tgas along with one that actually has part painted .

So you have extra 25 mesh files x 3 tgas that graphic card must handle

[MeshName] PoppedPanel_D0
Vertices: 36
Faces: 18
Uvs: 36
[Shadow mesh]
[Materials]
[color=red]Bf109A0PanelDMG

Nice cockpit, I especially like the texture of the gunsight!
I was throwing a glance at the posts in this thread and noticed the "floordiscussion" but it is correctly rendered. As you can see in the picture of the P-51-F6D it is made of wood and n

Lovely cockpit Freddy. I'll need new hardware like a lot of folks here to run it smoothly though. I'll save this for after my new PC build. Thanks!

Ok.. lets get some perspective on this.. I have seen no Gestapo types in this thread.. there are however, some minor points that have been raised, not as a damning report on Freddys efforts, but simply people who are noticing the odd thing hear and there, to try and improve things even further.. they literaly, all to a man, have applauded his efforts at the same time, so lets not blow this out of proportion and get anymore 'flak', inducing yet more negative comments.
We can all see the effort that has gone into this, but if Freddy is a 'perfectionist', he will take the comments on board and respond accordingly.. for gods sake lets not drag this out further!

I have a question for Freddy Big Grin .

What version of K14 gunsight, is the one that appears on your cockpit?

In your version, the regulation, appears in numbers, but in other versions, appear the names of aircraft, for example Bf-109 or Ju-88, to regulate the sight with the wing span of each objetive.

I do not doubt the historical veracity of your cockpit, its only curiosity

No. Neither it is a beautiful work or you need a better hardware.
People from aerobatic teams asked me about this mod and his compatibility and other... because P-51 is the most popular team aerobatic plane in Il-2. So I have checked the mod, rather deeply. So, in my opinion, that is the way in which mods should not be produced. I don't write about minor bugs, but there are many major mistakes: starting from the project and ending with the realization.
The amount of additional meshes and textures do not represent the size of improvements. Many textures are oversized. Most of textures resolution have been multiplied by factor of 2 (or 4) than default one, but the have not been repainted from scratch, but the "sharpen" tool was used in connection with making textures more contrastive. This is a waste of memory, because this way you can't improve texture quality.
Men who prepared this cockpit put some work with it - I agree. But in my honest opinion: if you do something you should do it correctly and well up to the end. I think that it would be much better for all of us if the author, instead of adding not necessary meshes, just repaints default textures with improving their resolution by the factor of 2.
So, yesterday, with being angry on fact, that this cockpit is absolutely unusable, I started preparing my repaint. Painting each element from scratch. I can show you a comparison of two elements marked with red on pictures below. The first shot is from default game (texture 256x256), the second was done with the mod (texture 512x512), and the last is done with my repaint (texture 512x512):

The textures used in that shots: (remember, that the one which is mine is not completed - I just did that two parts):
[Image: interior1orgbu1.th.jpg][Image: interior1modnv7.th.jpg][Image: interior1zefirql7.th.jpg]

I am not a texture master. I can't paint well.
But when writing "oh!" and "ah, what a beautiful cockpit!", please, keep in mind, that in the most important parts, the author did almost nothing more than resizing and applying contrast filters.

.... i was just polite , after all he did spend his time and did the job the best he can . Being this a Christmas present , we shouldn't be so critical IMHO.

We can not criticise the person, but we can speak about the effect. Why? To give the real feedback.
This is not about being polite or not. In communities like this one the lack of constructive criticism is not helpful. It is not possible to be that everything is "absolutely wonderful". No, there are people's effort which effects in crappy things - but when you write about them in superlatives only, such people will not correct their mistakes and produce more and more add-ons with basic mistakes.
I don't want to criticise the author for this effort. I like the screenshots which he has taken. But in my opinion this is the only possibility of using this mod. To do some screenshots from replays (with not so deep look at the details).
