[MOD] X'Mas present from Freddy: P-51-D20 Cockpit

Zephyr, just as your own mods shown here at AAA are still in an unfinished state and have many incompatability issues (so much so that you have declined to release them as yet), I'm sure you understand that the modding process is as much of a journey for Freddy as it is for you. I look forward to your own very great and economical cockpit cockpit reskins in future.

Zephyr, I think you made a good decision on not using this "remake" if you don't like it or is not properly working on your PC. Is what Freddie asked in the first place. I am interested in seeing your approach too on it. And I am not being sarcastic at all. I've looked thru the textures my self and yes, some textures with text on them could look even better if the text was redone (even preserving the max 512 resolution like in your example) but...

the tone...

Man... telling a politician he's a moron and then proving him wrong and stupid with good arguments can be done on any tone... frack him! But to a fellow simmer that spend so much of his time rebuilding one of the cockpits, to try to wipe the floor with his work telling him that all is good for trash is plain wrong.

Can't you use any of his work or he's ideas? Wouldn't be more "constructive" to tell him: "Hey, great effort, very nice result (at least for your screenshots right?) but, could I have your consent on redoing some of the text you let untouched? or Let's try to solve this "waste of memory" by remapping the textures a bit?" Maybe solve the "bug" of "sun thru the panel" too.

But no, better we say to him he's work is basically close to nothing and we start from scratch... this will boost my ego and will lower his... thus we win by calculating the difference remained, not to say about the great use of descentralized-distributive paralel works. If only nature will work like this... Tongue

How about all the modders here write a common letter to Oleg and tell him that his whole game is quite trash... after all... look how much moding and head banging it brings... You should entitle the letter: "We the AAA modders community declare your game a total garbage and we start to build a new one... -Battle of Great Britain-"... or something Big Grin . I'm sure Oleg will appreciate the sincerity and the constructiveness of it.

P.S. I have 4GB of RAM (3.5 actually used by my XP) and 512GB of video RAM and I don't see major problems with this cockpit FPS wise. :?

Beautiful work, thanks!

The sun glare coming through the instrument panel was a bit of a surprise but other than that I have no issues with the re-skinned pit. Perhaps there's a fix for that buried in this thread somewhere but I haven't read through it in it's entirety to see.

I do have a *minor* issue with the download package. I was not expecting to have to manually create the extraction path. It's not a big issue but most other mods I have used from this site either have a very nice installer package, or will extract the mod's full intended path and not require the user to create that path. I can make a download available with the correct path in the archive if Freddie and/or AAA mods would care to have a look. PM me if interested in that.

....then you must have quite a panoramic view man ...

More seriously, Reflected, do you have any "mirror" mod somewhere ??

That could be the cause .....

If you want to remove completly the photo , it s very easy
Open the Hier.him with a txt editor and find the line about
PoppedPanel_D18
Put // in front of that line and no more photo on your panel .... Save the new hier.him
You want to come back with the photo on the panel ? Remove the //
See exemple below :
"[PoppedPanel_D17]
Mesh PoppedPanel_D17
Parent _ROOT_
Attaching 0 -1 0 0 0 1 -1 0 0 -0.46300 -0.03400 0.93900
//[PoppedPanel_D18]
Mesh PoppedPanel_D18
Parent _ROOT_
Attaching 0 -1 0 0 0 1 -1 0 0 -0.17650 -0.12500 0.83000
[PoppedPanel_D19]
