A 'cookie', or 'blockbuster', 4,000lb blast bomb being loaded on a de Ha villand Mosquito. The bomb bay of this light bomber, originally intended to carry only 2,000 lb, was modified to accommodate the extra size. A Mosquito of 692 Squadron first dropped one of these bombs over Diisseidorfon the night of 23/24 February 1944.

i would love a cookie that big lol. In a 1000lb bomb the actual explosive is around half that, the rest is the iron shell, that cookie doesnt look to have much of a shell, result = super explosive, earthquake style lol

I was reading 'Dammed Good Show' by derek robinson. an ex-RAF service man, a historical fiction based on fact. One of the points that cropped up was that the 4000lb cookie, which was equipped on heavy bombers from 1941, had all the ballistic properties of a garden shed, since it was finless.

As such, it was rather innacurate.

Annoying the annoying, so you don't have to.
