Have to agree - I've looked at all the likely and unlikely candidates. We'd all prefer a multi-panel 'beetle eye' canopy but there's no easily usable example - bar the He 111, which looks a bit too rounded but I suppose has major advantages for Jolly, in terms of pilot controls and overhanging instruments.

This is the other alternative that might do (A 20):

Given that the FW 189 was renowned for its all round view is there any way of incorporating, say, the G4M1 glasshouse - with whatever front view is chosen?

The rear cone-shaped turret of the G4M1 might also sit well at the rear of the FW 189.

Rear gun:

At a guess, one of the rear guns on the Ju-88 would be sutible for the top turret & the rear gun on the Betty would be ok for the rear gun on the FW.

I had a look at the rear gun of the Ju 88 but the armour surround looks a bit asymmetrical (skewed to one side). Might just be a viewpoint thing. If the armoured ring with the kidney shaped glass could be taken out, it might be usable. Only has one MG 81 though.

A possible solution just occurred to me (thanks to username's post)!

The FW-200 uses the gondola position from the He-111 but in reverse! This means that it is possible to change the orientation of the cockpits (I have only ever swapped cockpits eg. to fix the Mig-3)!

So we should be looking at the sides and tops of canopies as well...

Nice idea Roso. Actually, you just made me take a look at the Condor gondola and I reckon the gun mount - upside down - could be another possibility for the FW 189 mid-gun position. (I think on early examples the mid-gun position was not as heavily armoured as the one shown in CKY_86's post above).

I don't know why I didn't think of it before, but you might try the Lerche cockpit on for size. It's a similar size and appearance to the B-25 nose turret, but has proper flight instruments.

EDIT: Sorry, I hadn't noticed it had been mentioned before.

I think Lerche cockpit is too small. And there is no cross hatching in forward glass. Look at the photo of 189 cockpit ...
We need a square cross hatching glass with an horizontal sight. Ju-88 is perfect if nobody change 3D cockpit. I will be necessary to modify angle of view ....

If someone could transform a cockpit, he could be interresting to use He-111 instruments panel + G4M1 cross hatching for example ....

For top gunner + 1000 with Username !! Use Ju88 or Ju87D gunner !
For tail gunner + 1000 with Roso. Inverse He-111 gondola !

ok here is quick & easy solution to this plane

either we have just open cockpit (like wonder women view) for the cockpit
& have floating gun sights for guns (like we did with remote turret for b29)

what i would like to know is did the 189 have a bombsight ?

Can't find any info yet on that but here are the variants..

The main production model was the Fw 189A reconnaissance plane, built mostly in two variants, the A-1 and A-2. The Fw 189B was a five-seater training aircraft, but only 13 were built. A heavily armored ground attack variant, the Fw 189C conceived, but its two prototypes (V1b and V6) were not satisfactory, and it was not produced...
