Can the pit crew remove the oil smears on the windshields?

Especially the Navy fighters like the F4F Wildcat? I think that this was done originally for some kind of parity, but it is annoying.

That whats happens when your engine is hit in real life! Its there for realism, go to External Aimer or Full screen aimer if you get oil smears, thats what i do.

If your on cockpit only, well tuff luck chappy

Yes it does happen in real life. But that does not say that those oil smears in game are anywhere close to realistic. The 109 and i think the 190 could spray fuel on their windshield to remove anything smeary on it, like bird poop  , or in this case, oil.
And the Ki-61 does get the oiled windscreen too, but that oil had no chance to get there, it would have leaked out at the bottom of the engine (just recollecting from memory what BillFish once wrote).
So they should be removed in some, if not all cases. Its just annoying and unrealistic.

And saying that flying locked pit is our own problem, well, its certainly more realistic AND fun. I didn't fly open pit since FB days.

So please someone remove that annoying oil smear at least from the 109 and Ki-61 please!

I'd be willing to bet that Fly! was not referring to the oil that appears on the windscreen after taking a hit in the engine. I thought he was referring to the funky reflections you see on the inside of the canopy when the sun is shinning in the cockpit fron certain angles.

It used to be present in a couple of the later models of the 109 IIRC. I think what happened was that an artist in Oleg's employ, was given a bunch of pictures of these various cockpits, and told to reproduce them, which he did faithfully. They screemed so loudly about the 109's canopy, it was eventually cleaned up, and I believe that the Grumann's cockpits were once much worse than they are right now.

As annoying as it is, I can truthfully say that, as a professional pilot I find it very realistic. Annoying, yes, but very realistic.
