The MODS install Perfect with Vista......... so long as no one uses the default install path of C:\Programs\Ubisoft\.......

Never us the \Programs\...... default install. You cannot alter any file in the game.

Winblows Security........

well actually you can use default paths, and modify anything you so desire (except windows files)- you mearly have to disable the User Access Control function that Vista has that causes all these problems - a quick 2 minute exercise thru vista's config (UAC - Disabled)

Then vista lets you have your way with her Wink

UAC was the first tweak I did on Vista. It's annoying and has a counter effect on security as ordinary users will start clicking OK or Allow on any popup they see. Mods work just the same as they do on XP.
Here is a link with instructions: http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm

Programs should not be writting any settings in Program Files neither in XP nor Vista. This forces 99% of users to log in with administrative rights and we know what that means...

Hello

have a new computer with windows vista ultimate (64 Bit edition)

Could not get pacific fighters to install and run. (either by switching of UAC off etc)

ended up copying my old game install from my windows XP machine and overwritting the program files in Ubisoft file in Program X64.

Then everything works fine including all the mods and patch's I had install ed on my XP machine. ie Mk1 spitfire/ sounds etc?

Hope this helps somebody!

Ok my little bit folks

I brought a new Vista PC (32 bit) a month ago and it was only last week that I could get the game to run in 'Perfect'............but this is what I've done:

User Account: As mentioned before disable the bugger because its a pain in the ass.

Windows Defender: Same as above.

Automatic Updating: Its not like XP as it not only seems to do it when you want to, so thats off as well and I'll only turn it on once a week to see if any upadtes are around then turn it off again.

Windows Firewall: Off as well as it stutters the game too much - get a freebie off the Net same with a AV Prog as I had Bullguard already installed on this and the was one of the 1st things that I un-installed

Also (and this is up to you folks) but also turn off System Restore as that seems to work everytime you install/un-install or just play around with things.

Also install your Il-2 Game Folder on your C: Drive and give that and HL 'Admin Rights & 'XP Combat'. It doesn't work too good within 'Program Files'

Now as for the Mods here I alway's have problems with the automatic installers - the new planes in their own slots is a good example - new maps too. So what I have to do is to open them to Desktop and then install them myself as they just don't seem to work as they did on my old XP Rig, but saying that not all are as bad: updated versions or A.I Aircraft seem to install ok in the right path without open it to desktop.............its just trail and error for me and I'm sure its the same for most folks with 'Vista'

Running Windows Vista home Basic (32bit)

Running on Direct X on max settings. Reasonable good game play

As far as i know i have encountered no problems with installers, mods, or game play with vista. I had the prompted account think off because its sooooo annoying.

But yes, the game is running fine and so are the mods.
