Armoured headrests - I hate 'em!

Any chance of removing the armoured headrests on the 109 G2 and Ju88? They really kill your rear view, as the screenies explain.

Why not just take out everything completely so you have no visibility restriction? That was sarcasm btw................

Adolf Galland was flying without armour plate behind his head, but he had edited DM and FM

1. Remove everything you want, if you make correct DM...
2. DO NOT make any changes in FM or DM at least in v4.08!

1 + 2 = DO NOT DO IT!!!

I think it was the opposite - Galland had aditional armor installed, and it saved him.

Dude,

The purpose of this QTIM's / MrJolly's / Hippy's and everyones elses work is to do something 1c and Co couldn't be stuffed doing. IE giving us planes and other candy that were promised and never came as well as fixing niggles that have been bugging us for years.

Doing something like "Hey dudes! lets take out the armour plate behind on the headrest because it totally killllllls visibility and who cares about the FM DM, I just want to have better vis" is akin to killing the game. AAA has absolutely no plans to touch the FM / DM's .... people need to get this throught thier heads that although Il2 is being modded at long last, it is not a free for all with no regard for the standards that have been set down.

I was referring mainly to a couple of posts in particular, the theme of which seems to have become a recurring thing on the forums (hey, it is the internet). Of course I am appreciative of Jolly's/Hippy's/Qtim's efforts here; they have given us some things which should have been avalible in the original game, but wasn't.

And I don't think that just taking out the armoured headrest is akin to killing the game. In the game they are there purely for decorative purposes and provide no armour protection. Hands up anyone that has been headshotted from behind by a machine gun round whilst flying the Ju88?

And removing the armoured headrest does not mean that you have to touch the FM or DM ("Oooh no, theres 10 kilos less weight! We have to correct for that").

Yeah fair enough mate......But where is your proof that "The armor does nothing and is there to make the plane look pretty"? The game is at risk of what the nay sayers have been screaming about back at the zoo....That people will mod the game for thier own ends or to thier own idea of how "things should be"........THis will happen in the future once the knowledge of how to mod becomes mainstream...hopefully BoB will be out by then

This is a two way process.. The game itself is not flawless, Oleg has made some glaring mistakes that he refused or could not rectify.. and we all know it.. Screaming that the game be kept 'pure' is only keeping what Oleg and his team think is right.. it's not gospel!
