Opening Canopy?
#1

Anyone working on possible opening canopys? Can this be done? Be nice on the P-40, P-51, P-47, TBM, etc.

The P-40E's and M's are crying out for that.

I wonder how the cockpit thing works? When the first TMB3 Avenger came out, it had a Dauntless cockpit. The Dauntless had a functioning canopy, and even though all the TBF/M's don't have opening canopies, the canopy of the Dauntless cockpit opened (as seen from the inside anyway) when installed in the TBM3. Now, the cockpit of the P-40B has an opening canopy, but when it is placed in the Hawk 75, it no longer opens. That's odd. The new cockpit for the TBF/M's is from the B-239, the export version of the Brewster Buffalow. The US Navy version has an opening canopy. I wonder if that would work in the TBF/M series with an opening canopy? The early TBFs had a telescope sight, just like the SBD-3 and the F2A-2 Buffalow. Not only that, everything is in English too. I'd gladly put up with that sight to have the opening canopy....but that's just me.

When I kit the "Open Canopy" key in the Avenger, the HUD announces "Canopy Open", but nothing actually happens.

Anyone figured out how to "crack" the canopy on the TBM, B5N, P-51C/D, P-47, FW190, Spit, Hurricane, Tempest, etc?

I'm pretty sure that the TBM's canopy problem has to do with the particular cockpit they used. The B239 does not have an opening canopy, while the SBD, the first attempt at making the TBM flyable, does have an opening canopy - and it did open. That doesn't explain the Hawk 75 though, which uses the P-40B cockpit, which does have an opening canopy. :?: :?: :?:

How does this work MrJolly?
