ok not sure but we have been trying to help someone install the mods for a new version of il2 (4.08 ready) brought from digital store & we have found that he cant install any mods with it :? ok we are not positive but so far its not looking good - we'll keep you informed
and anyone who has brought il2 recently & is using the mods pleae let us know asap - ty
this could be big bad news for us modding peeps but it could all be a mistake i just dont know for sure yet
if this is the case then we can still use older versions of il2 which you patch upto 4.08 - this way we can all still mod v4.08
I'd be surprised if they've released a 'fix' for it, without any notification of a fix being available, and not given everybody the opportunity to aquire this fix for them selves...
In my squad we had one guy who was unable to install the mod, because he still had "boonty-box" on his PC...might want to check on this.
i forgot to mention he only brought it 2 weeks ago
also ive helped a fair few peple with the mods & ive never come across this before :?
so you are clear basicaly the version he got is 4.08 ready ,he didnt have to patch it up
Hmm,
I bought two licenses of il-2 1946 when they came out, both of them state "Made in Australia", and I bought them as soon as they were released. I am not sure how many releases are there, I know there is a US release as well, and obviously a Russian release. (I was a little eager... when I bought one via E-bay and I did not get it... I ordered from another vendor and had it shipped super express faster than light mail... he he... a week later I got the other copy... my friends all laughed at me... BUT WHO IS LAUGHING NOW!!! HA HA HA!!!)
I have one copy on my PC, and one on my laptop... and they both work with the mods.
If the version he bought was 4.08 ready then it was a download version which have always been screwed up (needs the boonty box exe to work correctly).
back then when the download version first was available there were lot of complaints about this Boonty something iirc, do a search at ubi
maybe its a problem related to online download
most people go for the real life DVD version imho
BoontyBox can be removed after installing the sim- if I remember correctly, instructions on how to do this were posted at SimHQ after 4.05m was released. I would assume that this procedure is still applicable for a downloaded version of 1946.
I have just purchased the D/L version (4.08 ) and am having problems installing the mods. I get the startup screen however once it get to 5% it crashes to desktop. See my thread at viewtopic.php?t=1863 for more.
I have no sign of this Boonty Box on my system is it a hidden prog and if so how can I tell if it is installed?
Edit - I found the tread at Sim HQ on Boonty Box removal and after checking my system I am convinced it is not installed (it appears ubi is using a different prog for downloading now).
I am willing to assist in any way possible to solving this problem. If you need a file to examine or anything else just let me know!
Thanks.
It sounds like you guys might possibly be running into some sort of anti crack software. I know most games when bought and downloaded from internet sites use certain measures to ensure that people won't start distributing the stuff once they get it (similar to what the boxed versions use).
Anyone ever hear of starforce? You might want to check into this possibility... because if there is one with it - it will effectively force the game to not work if its data files are changed
