It would be cool if all american's fighters have altitude guage like in P-51D. Is this possible to do ?

Not one such as the D20 has. However, I would very much like to see the Ju-88 altimeter made to work properly. Oleg said it could not be done, and the 88 cockpit had to be accepted "as is".
I think that is a perfect challenge to the talented people here to prove just how inventive they can be. :wink:

The request was to TAKE the P51-D's gauge, and fit it to other planes....

The refusal was that it isnt an historical mod - and thus is why it will not happen.

The in-game P-51D20-NA has a noob-friendly altimeter that features a second hand which ticks off the tens of thousands of feet. Whiskey111 seems to be asking that these later style altimeters be sent backwards in time and fitted to all earlier types of US aircraft, thus removing any added intellectual input that would be otherwise required when attempting to determine your altitude...

My idea was to take an altimeter from P-51D to Hellcats and Corsair for example. I don't have any cockpits picture of these aircraft, so I can't tell that this can be historical correct. But I think that these aircrafts have similar altimeter.

I don't have the book for those aircraft, but I can say that in the "Maintenance Interchangeability Cross Reference Charts", the instruments could be switched between aircraft. This especially counts for the altimeter, gyro, turn/bank indicator, compas. Tachometer were dependant on engine, airspeed was dependant on engine(s) and plane, etc.

See an excerpt of altimeters used between aircraft like B-17s, A-20s, P-38s and P-39s on Page 57:



As you can see it's from '43, so it's not got all the details one from '44 or '45 would have.
