Definately! The German voices are good, but they don't sceam for mommy and fly as many missions as they did in WW@. Please someone make a realistic voice pack for the Germans!!
Voices have been wide open for modding since the days of Forgotten Battles. You simply have to replace the voice samples in the folders with your own recordings. The reason why it hasn't been exploited much is that it takes a lot of work and talent to do a decent job of it.
I find that the voices are annoying and I have them switched off.
There's a lot of potential for the in-game voices to be improved, not just the voices themselves but the amount of repetition and the kind of info that they convey. I'm not exactly sure what those improvements would be.
I quite like the voices in BoBII but even they begin to grate after a while. It's a tricky one.
You are right.. The only decent pack I have allowed on my system is the one done by Compans with his '32 Sqn' series.. The voices and radio proceedure have been pretty faithfully followed to reproduce a 1940's experience.. Not only is it accurate, but the actors inject a 'feel' for what is going on inside their aircraft, as well as injecting typical military gallows type humour. with the usual swearing and sexual inuendo that anyone who has served in the forces will readily recognise and be familiar with!
Hopefully someone will be able to do something similar with the other nationalities. I'll look forward to that..
Agree, Compan's voice pack is brilliant. It really gave the game a shot in the arm when the old RAF voice pack was starting to sound a bit jaded. If I ever get the time I'd like to go through the files from Compan's pack and whittle out the campaign specific messages with references to Amiots or Dorniers for example. That way I could enjoy some patter that would sit any RAF theatre of ops.
WoW you guys are right on, Compan's voice pack is brilliant. Its the best Ive hear so far, I dont know how I missed this little gem. Excellent voice pack Compan. Cheers Wing.
Thanks chaps. Actually there are 3 seperate packs for my 3 linked RAF campaigns at mission4today. My reasoning was that 90% of the default chat is entirely useless as there are no callsigns so it's almost impossible to know if the messages refer to you or not. With that in mind I decided to have the pilots indulge in a bit of banter. Another little idea was to place friendly bombers along routes to trigger mission specific dialogue...ie in the first French mission the pilots say 'Ah...there's the French coast now'. As there are 5 or 6 friendly nationalities to choose from you can do this a lot. Just find the appropriate files and record over. It's actually not as much work as it sounds. I also thought that there was a distinct lack of period plummyness in the RAF set. Obviously the RAF became quite international but the voice acting in EAW did a great job of putting across some Oxbridgeness. I talk more like the 'Cloves' character in my set but I had a good go at something a bit posher.
My main recommendation is wait until you're alone in the house when recording as screaming 'You f*cking amateur!' at the top of your lungs time after time tends to worry the wife and upset the kids.

Compans voice packs really are the best thing to come around since Extreme One released his RAF campaign waaay back when. The heart beat sound in the latest pack had me wondering if I really heard what I thought I heard durng a dicey moment. Very imaginative and very well done.
I'm wondering-how do you add the radio crackling effect to your recordings?
I go 'Keeeeeeeeeh!' at the beginning and end. I also hold a small plastic bag over the mike and rustle it when speaking.

i would like a better voice pack for Russians too . They speak like relax:
"oh... my engine is down and on fire ....so what?"
more aggressive voices to Russians are needed
Could anyone please send me a link to compans voice packs? I have been looking for them at misiion 4 today but cannot find them
They come with my campaigns. Start with No.32 Sqn in France.
