I just read that of the 90 Pe-8s produced and used on operations, most had Shvetsov M82FN radial engines rather than Mikulin inlines. They also had the gunner stations in the rear of the engine nacelles deleted. A future mod?

Possible, but we would still have to run the same FM as normal.

I should have added that they had a slightly lower performance than the earlier Mikulin powered prototypes, so FM issues shouldn't be a concern.
