A few thoughts. AI is reactive, right?

We see the problem (assuming we can ever change the files anyway) that if you upped the react to targets distance from 3000m to 4000m, all the planes would also see each other farther away (even less bouncing possible). So little changes in AI can have far reaching effects.

Another example is that by upping the min alt, oleg fubared the AI because they'll break off if you go low. Little change to prevent AI crashing produces huge problem in AI combat.

I'd also love to change the default formations for planes. A-20s and B-25s should attack LINE ABREAST, not line astern.

The AI stuff is all in files.SFS

Nothing I can see with a hex editor, do I need to do something first, or is all the garbage in the right window of the editor because it's in russian or something, lol?

yes I think you are right about the min alt for A.I. it was changed "recently" by Oleg. .But I think that if you find a medium setting value between the starting/original ones by Oleg and the recent changes made by 1C all will remain go with n.p. of crashing for a.i.

Over the water it wasn't happened so often, but over the ground, especially over the hills and placed objects there it was happens very often for AI.

Such attack from the beginning was accecible on for the flyable aircraft when it is under control of player.

Sad...You did nice maually tuned mission for such type of attack for AI aircraft, but it is done by undocumented "feature" that was more a bug of AI....

^^^ Why AI was changed from the horse's mouth (email). That was November 2006, so whatever patch was right before that is when it happened.

Even if I can't see anything in the hex, you mean just replace what I guess is the appropriate ai file with an earlier version? Interesting idea.

:wink: ..If only I could manage files as you, I'll help surely about this tests spud; sorry if I can only support you with ideas.. but...you know, Italians are good only for this in the word :lol: ..And waiting your news on progress about.S! 8)
