Adding new aircraft... NOT YET!
#31

Small HOWTO

This is a small howto, for testing. Still Dosent load the loadouts nor the model.
To add a new aircraft. You need to Make a new/copy classfile with a diffrent name.
For Example. The Tigermoth uses the U-2vs. So rename the file and then open it up change any thing with the name U-2vs, other then cockpit info. Save it. Hash it. Now open your air.ini and add the aircraft.

For Example
TIGERMOTH air.TIGERMOTH 1 pl01 SUMMER

After you add that and save. Open your plane.prop files found in i18n. Add the aircraft to the bottom of the list.

For Example

BuffaloMkI Buffalo MK. I
TIGERMOTH TIGERMOTH

Save and start the game. It shouldent crash. I have noticed it does crash for unknown reasons. I have used several aircraft with cockpits allready, same as the tigermoth still no luck yet.

For People who wish to try it in this state please download the P-26 test.

Nothing To Fanncy its just a name change, but its added to the list as a new aircraft. Its basicly the P-11 with the name of P-26. You can view the aircraft in the aircraft viewer.

Hellzone, probably a stupid idea, but maybe try add the item also to technics.ini and stationary.ini (they contain static aircraft but who knows).
Anyway good luck!

it loads the model in the builder as a aircraft. but not as static.... :? were getting close.
I was right about that class i was trying to recompile. Stationary.ini Shows me the same info i saw in the class.... so once i get that compiled u can use it as a static aircraft as well. huge fleet of tiger moths any one ??

Btw thx Lowfighter for reminding me.

FM modding is allowed for this, right? A Bf-109T with Ju-87-C FTW!

Thats the big question... because if new FM's are going to be added... they have to be added manualy... jolly cant really send out files... because if theres a new aircraft to be added it also has to be added into that file.
Which in sence kinda makes a pileup
So meaning every one who wants a new FM for the new aircarft in there list, you must make a oath... never to cheat.... if it ever comes to that.

Awesome!

Couldn't a self installer be made to add the correct FM data to the specific files? much as the filelist.txt did and cleaned up duplicates afterwards?

Or distribute those central classes with the FMs added and all the new planes together? Kinda like the devs did but without the snobby "oh this plane crucial to the pacific war is done, but I'm not interested in it, so I'll add a dozen more obscure yak variants instead"

Now that you guys are so close to being able to add new planes and are wondering about FM issues consider starting with new planes that need no new Flight Models. For example

1) A real I-16 series 24 with 4mg's. Rename the old type 24 as a type 27. No new Flight model needed as the old type 24 FM is correct. (Oleg gave us the type 27 not the 24 claimed)
2) A Lagg 3 series 1 delete the 20mm gun and replace it with a 12.7mm . The series 4 Lagg FM would be OK as it was modeled with a pre-war FM anyway.
3) I16 type 29 (The last of the Ratas) Armed with one 12.7mm and Two 7.62mg's.
4) BF-109E3 modified cockpit same engine as E4 we have so no FM changes needed.
5) Finnish Hawk 74A-3/A4 mods adding 2 50's to wings replacing the .30 MG's. Same FM
6) P40N use M model FM.

You get the idea. No need to toy with Flight models to start with.

Hellzone, while working on this have you come across anything that would help add (or remove) whatever it is that sets nationalities for default skins, ie; (multi1) (usa) (gb) (ru) etc.?

Back on track..a bit Big Grin

Good luck with getting a result...I gave up with the ships a while back, it can be quite frustrating.
