Go ahead and charge $10 for membership.

Why worry every month about paying for this site. Donations will never be steady enough to justify the aggravation of constantly asking. Just charge to belong and if people don't pay--oh well--just close the site. IMHO

I'll go along with that......if I can get 5 months credit for my latest donation.

I don't think that would be a good idea.... Like it or not.... creating these mods is illegal... just because no one has pursued any kind of legal action doesn't change that, however charging for them, which is what Mr. J would be doing basically if he charged for membership... would IMO be stepping across a line that might .. and I am no lawyer so I say might... put him in a more precarious place on that slippery slope than he is now or needs to be. I think a better thing would be if many of the folks who have downloaded these mods would just get up off some kind of cash... which is not to say that many already haven't but lets face it... if the donations page is any indication when juxtaposed on the number of members, then there is indeed a great imbalance in the force...

Charging a membership fee for a website/forum, does not mean you are paying for the mods. Mearly the forums. Its just a co-incidence that the mods are only available on the site.

There is two things I see wrong with the idea - personally...

1: you can risk the fact that nobody, or very little would do it. Unlikely considering how many people are adament that these are additions that they would be willing to pay for.

2: you could drive a large majority of mod users, away, causing them to make alternatives, with a less constructive POV, loosing more 'control' (I use that loosely, so dont debate the use of that term) over what mods are freely available.

With me it isn't the fact that I don't want to pay, it's just that I can't!
There are two major reasons:
a) I'm a minor, and as so I can't do ANYTHING with my bank account except receiving money and gettin'it in my hand
b) I don't have 10$ spare - and I don't know how much tzhat is in

Its fine as it is.. If it becomes obvious that the site owners need more cash to enable them to run it successfully then I'm sure that people who can afford to donate some finances will do so again..

we will keeping the donation system - although i have to say we sometimes barely make it through a month with donations paying the bills & believe me running this site takes all of my time up & i dont get paid a bean for it. Its just a good thing we have some great members & moderators keeping this place together.

ALL donations are greatly appriciated & without them we probrbly wouldnt exist the way we do. More donations would be helpful

We want to keep this sites membership free, with no adds & good download speed.

I know that your system right now works great, but perhaps you could ask users to post mirrors, just to take some of the load off?

Bearcat, don't you ever get tired of moralising to everyone here? Like your some kind of model human being, a shining light that we should all bow down to and follow...hmm?

I think maybe it's time you had a better idea of how you appear to others, an idea would be to google yourself, like I did http://www.google.com/search?q=Bearcat99
