new dive and gun hit sound
#1

this dive sound samples is meant to work with LT.wolfs dive sound mod. i added metal stress sound while in a dive and it sounds a bit more as hearing it from inside the cockpit.

the gun hit sounds include vibration wich coincide with the vibration you see when stroked by fire.

set up a quick ground attack and and check them out

Where do I put the files?

they go in the samples directory (46 > files > samples)

the dive sounds are meant to work with lt.wolf dive sound mod
(The link is inoperative)

just back up your 4 files and replace with my 4 files.

to try new sounds set up a quick mission where you start high up, and just take a dive Smile (thanks to lt.wolf)

to try the gun hit sounds you will have 2 diferent wave files playing, one when one gets stroke by another aircraft and the other sound will play when stroked by ground fire.

set up a quick ground attack mission on an airbase and youll see the immersion this adds. jus play the mission normaly

papote,

I really like your dive and added stress sounds. I needed a little help remembering how easy a Mustang sheds it's wings so this is perfect. Thanks.

The hit sounds are a little too loud for my taste and scare the holy crap out of me. I think I'll try lowering them a little. The different and varying shrapnel hits from ground fire are a nice touch too.

I wish there were a way to differentiate between bullets and cannon hits so we could hear explosions from cannon rounds. I'd love to hear what a 20mm round would sound like going off inside the cockpit. I'd have to wear a diaper to fly.

can you just lower the part when the hit occurs right at the begining? leaving the rest alone? so as not to lose the other effects? if not ill do it again with lower hit volume.

i figured since every one likes the original hit sound wich was loud too.
i like it that now i can hear the vibration that one sees on the canopy frame when one gets hit. it adds a lot of immersion

yeah in the dive sound, the stress sounds coincide pretty well with the start of braking of parts off most planes.

maybe in BoB there will be diferent sounds for diferent caliber hits(wishfull thinking)

i got the files split for you to edit the volume on just the HIT part:
http://www.4shared.com/dir/5396061/c197 ... aring.html

included is a readme with simple instructions on how to create your own volume edited exp2_54_1.wav and exp3_11.wav .

edit HIT.wave volume to your liking

right click on HIT.wave and go > open with > choose program.

pick "sound recorder accessory" from the list

(this will add "sound recorder accessory" to your right click menu so you can have it there handy Smile

now that you have HIT.wave opened with sound recorder
you can increase/ decrease volume of wave files

by going on the top menu > Effects > decrease volume.

click it ones and it will decrease the volume of the wave file by 25%. keep clicking it untill you get it the way you want. SAVE IT

now, play HIT.wave and the little progress bar will move to the end and leave it right there.

now go on top menu: Edit > Mix with file > exp3_11.wav (NOT INSERT FILE)

and save it as exp3_11.wav now you have your new volume reduced file.

do the same with exp2_54_1.wav

you can increase or decrease volume on wichever of the 3 files to make it just perfect for your system. Smile

I tried this out last night after work -
2 am, there's me sitting in front of the pc with my 5.1 speakers - loved it - Big Grin
I was trying to duck somewhere everytime I took a hit - especially the ground fire hit - it might be a bit loud for some, but I absolutely love it!! Immersion, baby, yeah!!!
many thanks for this one, papote!

hehe thanks bigbossmalone what i like about the ground hit effects is that you still hear them still trying to get you as you try to escape their guns and you can see the tracers go by your canopy

Thanks papote for the tutorial and splitting the files for me. I did lose the "vibration" when I lowered the entire file. Now it's back and much better now.

This is what I love so much about IL-2 openning up to modding. It's interactive now and just keeps getting better every day.

Thanks papote, this mod is so cool!!
One question, maybe sound stupid: it's possible to change the gun hit sound for each plane? because some planes (ex. Mosquito) where mainly made of wood, so the hit sound would be different... just a thought

no, dont we wish. theres only 2 sounds as of today for gun hit. i tried to make the most of thAt fact

but who knows maybe eventually. the guys that are braking and examining the code are already finding how to modify many things Oleg him self said was impossible, i know many really cool things are being worked on as we speak.
