Do you actualy understand what is being requested here?..

The P-40F I can understand, but the others..

The P-60 series were prototype only, and as for being great planes?.. Reults were extremely dissapointing and the army abandoned the whole project. Whats great about that??

The P-40Q, only 3 prototypes were ever built and they were from existing P-40 airframes. Again the army abandoned any interest, non were ordered.

Obscure planes may float your boat, but I'd rather the modders spent their time and effort trying to give us WWII fighter aircraft that actualy took part in the conflict.. let alone the million and one improvements that can be made to existing in game aircraft..

Even if someone had the remotest interest in producing these things, how would you impliment them into an existing WWII campaign.. Gentlemen, frankly I'm lost in the thought process..

The P-40N would make more sense than the Q, let alone the P-60. Never understood why 1C didn't include it in FB, since it was the most numerous of the P-40s used by the Soviets.

There is a certain gap between early and late american fighter planes, because they don't exist early versions of P-38 and P-51, like P-38F/G/H, P-51A/A-36/Mustang Mk.I (P-47C can also be included here). But the best versions of P-40 (P-40F/L/N) are out too.P-40K was probably better than the P-40M too, since it had an engine comparable with P-39D-2, like P-40M had an engine comparable with P-39N (likewise P-40N had with P-39Q). In IL-2, there is a serious possibility that the performance of P-39N/Q is porked. We read constantly that their engines had a lower max output but a better alt. capability than P-39D-2 (like P-40K and P-40M).This is not reflected in their performance curves.
Late war P-40Ns are different enough to make two different P-40Ns an early and a late model.Their performance was close enough with that of P-51As but were produced a few months later.
After reading all this you might agree that creating a model that was produced makes much more sense. However I agree that creating some of the "lost" Curtiss fighters (P-46/53/60/62) would have give us an idea about a controversial subject (Curtiss failure to produce a successor of the P-40).I was always sceptical in the idea that P-46 was inferior than the P-40D - doesn't make any sense. Likewise, XP-40C/E seems that it was a good design. What went wrong I am not sure. XP-40C/E seems that it was a tactical air-superiority fighter, much like La-5/7, rather a high alt. escort figher.Possibly they thought that they didn't need something as such.Possibly it just came too late. For sure this is right for the P-40Q.If it would had come a little bit earlier, most probably it would had been produced in place of late P-40Ns.

Yep, P-40N would be a great addition.

I guess I am a ditto head. Adding the P40F and P40N would be great. How about adding a BF-109F2 or F4 JABO too. Other Common planes I would like to see is the...
1) I-16 Tip 29 (2 7.62mm and 1 12.7mm HMG)
2) A I-16 Tip 10 (Fixed pitch prop).
3) P38H
4) LaGG 3 series 1 (12.7mm replaces the 20mm)

I really would trade all the Star Wars 1946 types that never flew for the many that did and we do not have. 5000+ P40N's made. Less then 400 P40M's flew.

I would love to see Oleg release the rights to all the 3D models he will do nothing with.
The Fokker D21 and Re2000 and Re2001 for example.

My impossible dream is for the MAW models to see conversion for the Il-2 series. Hey, I can dream can't I??? Tongue

I agree about the P-40F,and I'd very much like to see it, as well as an L, K, and N, but the Q and the P-60s probably wouldn't appeal to most people.
I also would like to see a P-38F/G/H and the early P-51s. I'd really like to see more british and US a/c in general, since we have so many Russian ones...
