I barely have enough time in the week to fly, I certainly don't have the time to download, install, and test a mod just to see what it looks like when someone who has time can post a pic for all to see. I think all visual mods should REQUIRE a pic in the post.

it would took just about time you've spent typing this ....

BTW, nice mod ..... it's a keeper Big Grin

I'm typing this at work, at work I can type all I want, if I get seen flying I'll be flying my fired butt out the door with my belongings in a white box....

hello Catahoulak9 thank you for these cool gun sights. i have a question.

im a bit confused as to how the wraper sees whats in the mod folder and im beginning to feel im creating a holy mess in there because some stuff is showing up and some does not.

i was wondering if is possible to take all your reticles for all airplane classes and drop them in a folder named reticles, will that work?

Yes I agree, I know it looks like these reticle folders are getting out of hand. Consolidation will be done when it's ready to move out of WIP and into the finished mods section. Right now it's still a work in progress. And the process is working. The K14 sight, the P-51s and Ki-61s and other corrections have all come from you guys. I hope we get a few more like the CorsairMk series and maybe the P-39s and some more Japanese reticles. I haven't extracted the reticles myself, I've only worked with the ones floating around here. I'm also missing some of the file names, some are different than the ones in the plane_ru.properties file. Any help here would be appreciated.

The new wrapper system is simple once you understand two things. First is it will not overwrite a file that it has already loaded. The second thing is it loads the Mods folders in alphabetical order.

Whichever Mods folder's files are loaded first are the ones used and the rest are ignored.

So if folder "A" contains 3do/cockpit/P-51B/reticle1.tga and folder "B" contains 3do/cockpit/P-51B/reticle1.tga then folder A's P-51B reticle is used and foler B's is ignored.

The beauty of this system is it allows quick and easy testing and changing mods. The down side is one mod can easily prevent another or parts of another from being used. Most conflicts I've had have come from old mods still loading from my old Files folder. After I renamed the Files folder to zzFiles they loaded last and eliminated a lot of conflicts.

I'm sorry papote, too much teaching and not enough listening on my part.

The answer is yes, that should work fine. Make a folder called Reticles/3do/cockpit/ and put all the planes in it. You will have to decide which planes you want the N9 100m or the 200m size reticle and use the plane from the appropriate folder. If any of them do not work or cancel out another mod, you will need to look for a mod loading cockpit files before or after this one.

I do have one but I'm not really happy with it. It looks like most of the Russian planes draw the reticule from a tga graphic image that is only 1/4 of the reticule and assembles the four parts to form the whole image. It works okay if you are dealing with a perfectly symmetrical image, but it gets a little tricky with the bright treatment. Also, the Russian reticules seem a little large to me. I have nothing to base this on other than the reflected reticule image in most cases is substantially larger than the glass plate reflecting it. I'll get an image up latter this afternoon.

This is the Russian reticle at standard game size. The link below is to the La-5 shown in the picture. If you want to use it in the other Russian planes you will have to create them in your MODS\xxx\3do\Cockpit\ folder like the other reticle mods. I don't know which Russian planes this is appropriate for, it's just to test what it looks like. Does anyone have any reliable reference material on any of the WWII era gunsights?

This is a La-7 with the reticle resized to fit the reflective glass. I think it may be more accurate. It certainly looks better. Now you can see the whole image or the inside portion depending on where you sit.
