Excessive Gunfire Glare Effect - in-cockpit HS-129
#1

Hi all
I just flew a quick mission with the HS-129B-2, the one without the big cannon - using the 4xMG17 loadout. Now, I didn't test with other variants yet, or even the Bf-110, whose cockpit the HS-129 uses, but when I fire the MG's, at 12:00 midday, in broad daylight, the gunfire flash effect is way too intense, and I can't even see my target when firing. Is it just me, or does anyone else find this happening? I think its a bit overdone. Is there any way to lessen this in-cockpit gunfire flash effect, so that it doesn't 'blind' the pilot while firing?
The effect is cool for night missions, but is too much for the day...
Anyone else feel the same way, or should I be looking at paying my optometrist a visit?

Presumably that was the inspiration for the 1c forum colour scheme.

The cannon armed B-25 is the same. A huge pity on both counts.

I'm still patiently waiting for Ranwers to release his version of the Hs129 which uses the 109 'pit. That would solve this problem and be a more accurate representation of the Hs129 IMHO.

Wait a moment it will be better

Your Hs is using the pit of the 109Z, isn't it?

I wonder if in reality there is actually a flash when we fire , ive seen many movies of willcats , zeros ,BFs and i only see some smoke sometimes ,nothing more. :?

Well, I think certain MG's or cannon will produce a flash, but definitely not all of them. It might depend on the type of ammunition being used, or several other factors?
Don't get me wrong here, I like the external flashes, maybe some work on smoke trails could be done.... as for the effect as seen in these screenshots, it's a bit ridiculous, as all the MG's firing in this case are external, and UNDER the fuselage - there shouldn't be this crazy amount of flash.
After a bit more testing, it seems as if this effect is linked ro the Bf-110 cockpit, and the B-25 pit, as Bee mentioned.
Looks like ranwers is going to save the day for this one with by using the (better,IMO) 109 cockpit.
Still, it would be great if someone could find where this flash effect is, and maybe just tone it down a bit....

Ranwers Bravo!

I find more convincing with the cockpit, as the Bf-110! Smile
Especially with the viewfinder that you tinkering!
Where could you give us a little link, please!
