CVE Speed

Any way to speed up the CVEs, other than tinkering with the mission files?

YES!!! I found it! Go into Files folder, then Com, then Madox, then IL2, then Objects, then open up Ships in Notepad, and scroll down until you come across the CVEs - there will be separate entries for each one, and you will see two sets of numbers side by side. The first is it's default speed in the FMB, and the second is it's max speed. I set it to 56 for the default, and 70 for the max. 56 kph is the max speed for the Essex class CVs, and 70 is the max for the DD's. I then went into the FMB and checked it out, and presto! 56 kph was the default speed of the Cassablanca when I gave her two waypoints. Big Grin You can do this for any of the ships BTW.

Example:

//----------------------------------------------------------------------

[USSCasablancaCVE55]
Description Casablanca Class Escort Carrier

Icon shipDestroyer

// Model
Mesh 3do/Ships/USSCasablancaCVE55/Hier.him

// Motion Parameters
SliderDistance 390.25
Speed 56.0 //70.0
SoundMove models.Ship

While you're in there, check out their description for the Tirpitz!! LMAO!!

Interesting the icon designation too. I wonder if I could set different aircraft and objects to have different custom icons. The Nachtjager mod I've been working on had hit a wall with that before, but if I could assign IFF signals or fuzzy Mosquito radar blips etc. that'd be pretty cool. Smile

Do speeds need to be reset for each individual ship? Should I use the same parameters for each one, or do we need to look up historical speeds and use those?
Are the parameters set in Knots per Hour, or Kilometers Per Hour?
Also do you just recommend resetting the lower value?

I don't have the com/madox/etc folders in my files folder- where is it?

Jaypack44; Look in mods/com/maddox/ilk2/objects. That's where it is if you're using the new wrapper.

I'm in the same boat.. I'm using the wrapper, I have the MODS folder, but I don't have the others!

I think that the Com folder came with La_Ronne's Destructable Objects mod. It is in my Files folder though, not the MODS folder.
