IL-2 1946 Discuss your Addiction (Changed)
#1

From what I have read and tried I'm guessing theres no way to mod the downloaded version?

Or is there a way to burn the files to a disk or do something to get it to work?

Help would be greatly appreciated Big Grin

Thanks

Rommel, I bought the downloaded version, and the mods won't work with it. Worse, it downloaded a virus! I ended up buying the disc off of ebay. I assume there's an encryption lock computer thinga-ma-bobby (sorry for the technical jargon) that will defeat your efforts to wrestle it into submission. There's a thread in here somewhere that discusses it. I think in the sound mod thread.

Thanks for the reply Big Grin

Mods work fine on a downloaded IL2 '46 for me. But it's not the official one, it's simply an ISO image of the DVD.

I also bought the download version, even tho I had IL2 already installed and working. It's about ethics. I thought the game was well woth the money and Oleg + C1 etc deserved my little contribution.

I'm still running the version I installed from the DVD image downloaded from BitTorrent.
That's not illegal where I live, if I have paid a license I'm a legitimate user (there are court rulings in that sense) but in other countries ssimply downloading copyrighted material may be illegal in itself, even if you have _already_ paid a for license, so check and double check your local law before you do that.

Only if it turns out that paying a license makes you a legitimate user no matter where the data comes from, consider getting the DVD image.
I can't link to a download site for obvious reasons.

lol, I find myself falling into this obsession. After trying the IL-2 Collection I bought a joystick 2 hours after playing, then buying IL-2 1946 twice. O well I'll just give one to my buddy.

OK then, here it goes:

Hi I'm Luke and am a sim-oholic.

I'm not a long-time addict like some of our friends here but as soon as I got started I was hooked right away.
As it often happens. the first fix was for free: I downloaded a DVD image and installed IL2 1946 in late 2006, more or less as soon as new merged DVD appeared in the stores. I hadn't paid to get the game (yet) but I needed a joystick, so I got a
