The other day I've installed this mod and all systems go...
There's a folder MODS within my IL-2 main folder. so the installation was pretty simple:
1. I created a folder named 'FW190 no bar' (or whatever I wanted)
2. I unpacked that zip into this folder (there are bunch of strange-named files and 3DO folder)
3. I ran the game and checked if that bar problem gone.

Don't know if it is a bug but the bar is effectly removed on my install but i have strange light reflection at the bottom of my revi and when i fire it disappaer ?

Found it quite disturbing and if it's a feature of the mod can it be removed for people who don't want it.

yeah i have the sound mod and a whole bunch of other goodies installed as well(bloody good work btw guys! ) but i cant find the mod folder that is talked about so im not sure how to procede :/

Do you have a "Mods" folder in your IL-2 installation directory or a "Files" one?

If you have a "Files" folder you follow the instructions from the readme.

If you have a "Mods" folder follow my previous advice.

Make sure that in the "Mods" folder you dont have a "files" folder" already, if you do, make that renaming out of the "Mods" folder and then put the resulted renamed folder in to its final position in... "Mods" folder.

thanks guys for the help,I'v figured it out though.the mods were being installed into an old IL-2 modded folder that i forgot to erase(no wonder i couldn't find the tiger moth i thought i installed :/ ) I'v re-installed it in the right folder and now walla!! i can see!! now if only i can get this 6DOF mod working(i only have roll and thats it :/)

Hello one of my friend who is not english fluent asked me to post here his problem with this mod.
He uses this mod with flat canopy mode, plane shine and so on.
With the A8 he has this artifact:


I have personnaly tried this mod with no succes at all even with the flat canopy fix...
Any idea?
If there's no solution is there any way to remove this mod without screwing his install. He already deleted the lines in the filelist.txt with no success, and also tried to delete the involved files with no success too...
I must admit He is a bit puzzled with this...

The best would be to have this mod working properly without the artifacts... :wink:

That "artifact", which you see, isn't any artifact. It's part of MG cowls. You (or your friend) have not all files in folder: IL2_46\files\ These files edits "visibility radius" and after that you'll see it correct.

1) install basic "no_bar" mod
2) install flat canopy mod
3) install "flat_canopy_no_bar_fix" mod

Or just try copy THESE files into FILES folder.

Mmm original size of the screenshot was 1920x1200... I've reduced it to 1600x1000... next time I'll resize it more.

I don't know about other possibility.. Only copy all necessary files into "files" directory. In these files are "visibility" data.

I have spent time and effort in Oleg & Team to show this problem and to proove that point.


Here's a calculation I did back in April 2004, being the reason for the bar to be visible because oleg does not take into account the refraction of light:

Ja, mit dem Mod-Activator. Ist praktisch die Soundmod, aber ohne die neuen Sounds.
Dein Spiel musst du also sowieso modifizieren. Das ist ja grade der Witz an der Bar-Removal-Mod.
Eine Modifikation. Wenn du also nicht die neuen Sounds willst, installier einfach den Mod-Activator.
