Adding new aircraft to IL2 now possible !
#1

EDIT:
well it lloks as if the solution to adding aircraft is finally here !
no need to use Aces slots - we can make our own new slots
stay tuned we'll let you know here very soon

Thx to a guy called SJack for creating the first new AC slot & thx to Ranwers for bringing it here to AAA

How much are they being used anyway? And since most of them are duplicate planes it would be neat to use them to add those "newly created" Spitfire I's and Gypsy Moths and such. What do you think?

i think thats a dam fine idea ! now lets think here for a moment... there are no servers using these AC so that is great and +1 for this idea. Let us mull this over for a bit & i would like to talk to a few people also about this in depth. You could have given us an most excelent idea here - lets hope... but remember we have to think very carefully about all this first

Great idea Radoye - lets hope it blossoms

mmmm im thinking MK14 Spit Online ! here we come

EDIT:
The problem i forsee here is that whatever AC we choose to fill these slots will have to stay as those AC because if we change them & we are using them online everybody could end up flying different AC for the same slot - so... again this needs thinking carefully about.

I wont argue against that... as long as that lovely Nowonty 262 is left - its the only decent 262 we have Smile

Just out of interest, regarding slots... is it possible to clone slots, rather than just adding an empty one (yes; that question show's my 0% working knowledge of the way the slots work)

air.ini example:

Bf-109F-1 air.BF_109F1 2 g01 WINTER

Aircraft ID, java class, allied/axis, nation, ?default cammo?

rather simple if you ask me...

Yes, there needs to be some degree of standardization. But it seems the modding community already agreed upon standardizing some other changes. These added planes should become a part of the "official" mod pack while some other changes not as drastic as this could be left optional...

There is another similar option.

Make an "official" Pacific War Mod, and an official ETO/Med Mod.

The PTO can gut the euro planes, the ETO can gut the japanese planes.

i'm ok with that .... already having ETO and PTO versions as separate install anyway ...

I'd rather it wasn't this way. I like having just one combined installation.

Yeah - same here; would rather it was a combined set up...

Of course it would give us only a limited number of new aircraft - so perhaps when new aircraft are released, they are released with 5 or six difference versions to occupy different slots, so we could choose what we have where - at least then we have even more choice of what we have...

With JSGME, switching is easy though.

Any sort of switcher would work, it literally just has to swap 2 folders inside MODS.

You have a AAA PTO folder, and an AAA ETO folder. A switcher moves one to "disabled mods" folder, and the other from disabled to MODS.

Obviously not ideal, but it is easy.

Im with Zo and spud , I also seperated PTO and ETO. To each is own I quess, fact is that its so excellent to modify the game to our own liking. I just find it nice to have everything seperate. The new ship skins for example. I may even finish my MTO third install with all the great campaigns and skins. Cheers wingflyr.
