I discovered that I "lost" some sounds, especially the ones of the allied fighters and bombers, P51, Tempest, A20... The sounds are there but almost unhearable, I need to turn my audio to very loud in order to hear them.
Any idea?
I don't know what's causing it, but mine don't work either. I've found so far that the P-51, B-25, and A-20 main engine sounds are gone. When launched from the QMB, you get a brief sound as the engine begins to spool up, then nothing. If you cut the engine and get the RPMs way down, you'll get the idling sound again, but once you run the throttle up there's nothing. There's a low background sound, but it's not the engine. In the external views there's some sound, but again it seems like a low volume background track, not the main engine sound.
This is with SoundMod v0.93, but I've tried v0.92, and both with and without the dive sounds mod, but nothing works.
A solution would be great, but I'm about out of ideas.
I've checked the Allied planes so far. The following is a list of aircraft that have problems with the engine sounds. All of them do play the engine sound in the external view, though the volume is very low. Internal sounds played are either the engine starting sound only, or no sound whatsoever.
A-20C, A-20G : Start sound only
B-25C, B-25G, B-25H, B-25J : Start sound only
Buffalo Mk.1, F-2A2, B-239 : No engine sound
TBF-1, TBM-3, Avenger Mk.III : Start sound only
P-51B, P-51C, P-51D5, P-51D20, Mustang Mk.III : Start sound only
SBD-3, SBD-5 : No engine sound
Perhaps if someone with more knowledge of the sound files associated with these specific planes can make sense out of this we can resolve the issue.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I had only one "buttons" file in the whole directory. Nonetheless, I installed the updated one from the Spit MkI mod, but the problem remains as before.

Have you installed the 'Dive Sound' Mod m8?
I've had tried it with the Dive Sound mod installed and uninstalled. Problem remains, but see below.
Partially solved the problem, at least for the P-51s. I found that there was a capitalization mismatch in the names of some of the sound samples in the motor.Packard-Merlin.prs file, specifically in the capitalization of the "M" in Merlin. Correcting this got proper engine sounds back for all the P-51s, both internal and external. Apparently the text of the .prs files is case-sensitive.
Now I need to figure out which files are used by the other aircraft types having this issue.

I found thtat it was this that was causing me the problem m8 and I never installed it on this new rig and it works just fine.
As you've got the P-51's Merkin running try play with the other 'prs' files and make slight adjustment to see if this works m8.
I HAD the same problem, but the problem starts with trying out different sound packs. I re-installed my entire Il-2, and i only installed the .93 version right away, like many did, after that, no problems. Its the only way to get rid of the bugs.
Try it first with removing the 2 folders: MODS and Files, and try to re-install the Sound Pack before complete re-installation of your Il-2
There's nothing easier? Reinstalling is a bit too much
Well, thats why you should try to kick out the added folders throughout the modding, and those are the "MODS" and "File" folders. After that, try to install your final Sound Pack version.
After some experimentation, I've narrowed the problem down to the Wright-Cyclone and Pratt & Whitney R-Series .prs files. I still haven't sorted out exactly what's going on, but there is some sort of issue with these files that is causing sounds to drop.
With the Dive Mod v2.1 files installed, I get back sounds for the Wright-Cyclone engined planes, but the A-20 and B-25 sounds still drop out above 2000rpm.
lol thx riffraff but also its improtant to install AC_installer too & select your modded version
