Tutorial request
#16

Just give us the information limited to the manipulation of the ingame meshes; leave the rest of the stuff to AAA adminstration.

I thinkn magpie stated earlier that the community should be able to make all the aircraft models that they want, but leave the FM/DM to the mods. At the same time the mods would be able to filter out the "quality" mods from the "WIP standard" mods, and remove the "plain crap" mods in the same process.

i believe those two processes are closely connected so if you are shown how to manipulate meshes you'll be able to change FM/DM with same system/tools .... and once Pandora's box gets opened ....

Fly_Zo,
what happened in map modding was very good IMHO, because some threads about map modding, some excellent tutorials, and some modders willing to share their knowledge and help other people, made map modding now available to almost everyone who wants to try it.

This has not happened about making new cockpits, making new aircraft from existing ones, etc. Probably this kind of modding is more complicated than map modding, probably there is also a language barrier, probably aircraft modding is a more "sensitive" subject. But nonetheless I believe this can be tried. Maybe we will have an aircraft less from one person who had to write a tutorial, but 10 new aircraft made from other modders who read that tutorial Smile

Anyway it's a free choice of each modder, if willing to write a tutorial or to explain how to mod, or not. I am really not asking anything here, nor saying that a tutorial must be written, just my ideas... Big Grin

well spoken m8 , but you are forgetting what went on before map tools authors allowed free distributions of their tools .... When authors decided that its time they changed their policy and map modding became public knowledge .

So please trust AAA team in making decisions regarding sharing plane modding knowledge, i assure everybody it got nothing to do with egoistic intentions but more with keeping online gaming safe .

Unfortunately I can't agree with that. Other people should not be making our decisions for us. If AAA don't want to share their knowledge, then fine. But please don't say "its for the best" or "we are keeping online gaming safe". Thats an interpretation made by an individual, not a fact based on known information.

well seams to me that they/we already did make decision for you .... hence no FM/DM weapon changes rule . And if you need to be reassured regarding my statements , please do contact mrJolly or Lt.Wolf or any of modders that you trust ( clearly i'm not one of them )

BTW, i just tried to respond here since others have no time for this and i didn't want for your question/request gets ignored by AAA .... but since you don't believe me i see no point in continuing with this ...

roger and out

I am by no means ignoring you. But yes, I would like a response from one of the "lead" modders here. As has already been stated a number of times in this thread all we want to know is how to make VISUAL changes. I honestly don't care about FM/DM changes, and am happy to leave that to the modders. Therefore I do not believe that "we don't want FM/DM hacks" is a valid reason here.

well did you try to do it ? cos i did ( way back when all this started ...) and the way meshes (plane and cockpit) gets manipulated is similar to FM/DM manipulation ... same way and with same tools (applications) .

I didn't join the plane modding team then cos map modding ( my primary interest here ) was in early stage ( learning/discovering) so i had to chose with which modding i'll proceed . i believe i made good choice cos now we have well developed both maps and plane modding community .

so please trust me with this ....

Roger that, thanks. I trust you, but I still don't understand why not.

OK I trust Jolly and AAA too, but I still want a Bristol Beaufort for the Med theatre... and nobody is working at it ... not even thinking of it... so I thought I could be of some help. Smile

Anyway let's have trust and patience and see what is going to come out.
